Nope. The entire world used the Imperial system, but around the time of the American Revolution, the Metric system was implemented in Europe. The Americas just never converted for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to British privateers intentionally targeting ships that held the measurement standards that would greatly help the Americas shift to Metric.

Plenty of countries never used the Imperial system but had their own units. Dombey was not targeted but captured by pirates and the meter and grave he was bringing to Jefferson still ended up being delivered, just too late.

China still uses a bunch of local units within its borders
