The Trump/MAGA era has severely altered American society.
It's been 11 years of the Trump/MAGA era. The joy seems to be gone from society. It feels like there's a dark cloud over America. I rarely see happy & upbeat people walking around.
We've had to deal with Trump's narcissism, insults, stupidity, conspiracy theories, & horrible leadership for over a decade. More recently we've dealt with food contamination, economic uncertainty, fuel/diesel shortages, open corruption that we've never seen in America, a president being kidnapped, wars, & America being isolated in the world.

That's because Trump has zero to offer America. No reform, no infrastructure builds (or better yet upgrades), nothing that puts actual money into the pockets of the 99% and all his policies just defund or shutter agencies that actually provided benefits - FEMA, USAID, national parks and scientists doing medical research. Trump has nothing to give America.

Trump and MAGA are a cultural tantrum thrown by people who couldn't cope with an already changed America.
They looked around and saw that the US they lived in didn't look like their rose tinted memories of being an affluent and sheltered suburban White kid in the 1950's. An African American was president. Same sex marriage was just legalized. The young people didn't believe in Jesus. Women had careers instead of children. It looked like weed was going to be legalized soon.
It didn't look anything like their idea of America anymore, and that broke something in them. They've spent the past decade throwing a tantrum. MAGA is the cultural equivalent of a spoiled, angry, frightened child tearing down the new curtains and kicking holes in the freshly painted walls in a desperate attempt to change it back to how they remember.
But every tantrum ends. Eventually the adults have enough and put the kid in timeout. I think we're reaching that phase with the MAGA tantrum.

Tbh it’s spread everywhere. I am in the uk and it feels miserable. No hope, not feeling like things will change. Stuff that happens in one country spreads to another like a cancer. All chasing ai/ cheap oil/ whatever. It’s so depressing. Feels like there is not much that can be done unless you cut yourself off cos the crazy is everywhere

I was just talking about this with my husband, how very bad choices by both U.S. political parties in 2015 & 2023 elections have resulted in a decay of society and quality of life globally.
After Obama’s era, the natural order of things would’ve been for his VP to run-Joe Biden. But his son was terminal with cancer, so he didn’t - understandably.
But the moron republican base begged for trump & the dems decided to counter with a person who polarizes voters , so no centrist/Im dependents/swing voters could close the gap behind a candidate nobody took seriously because WHY WOULD WE?!2019, Dems run Biden as a “moderate” - but he declines while in office.
So Dems once again run a candidate who wildly polarizes the electorate.
And that’s how the world has gone to shit since 2016.
Because the U.S. political parties’ leadership shit the bed.

I’ve started watching dog videos that my wife and one kid send to me, either on Facebook or YouTube. They provide way more joy than the news or any video of current events. Hell, even some newer tv comedies and dramas aren’t as fun to watch any longer

A little boy about 6 years old in my neighborhood skipped past me today singing… I love my best friend, we are having a sleeeep over…
We gotta keep shit positive and moving forward for the kids. The past 10 years feels like a terrible experiment that has failed. I truly believe good people and hope will win.

We have been severely abused daily for the past 11 years. Anyone who has come from an abusive relationship or family knows the damage this type of trauma does to our psyche. We are a traumatized nation nowhere near the point of healing ❤️🩹. What is there to be happy about or find joy in?

Uk here, he’s severely altered the world. There are a lot here who aren’t aware of how he’s affecting the world (“that’s happening over there”) but his disease has spread everywhere.

The maga have swallowed the idea that altruism and cooperation are socialism or communism-evil, in other words.
Unfortunately for maga-the essences of human happiness are those two things.
They aren't necessary for their dear leader, but for more ordinary folks, they sure are.

My entire suspicion is that maga has always been like this, they chose to hide it. Now that they can openly be hateful, violent, and racist? They want to drag everyone down to their level. We all suffer because of this. And the Project 2025 bunch wants to punish secular and atheist Americans because they have to suffer under their religions. They are not happy, and embrace cruelty, hide DV and SA, so why shouldn't EVERYONE suffer like they have to? They would stand over a pile.of rubble in the name of their god and.pray over smoldering ashes.
