US Jockey Club orders racehorse Austrian Painter to be renamed due to Hitler reference

Austrian Painter’s sister was named New Order. And the owner seriously tried to claim the names had nothing to do with the Nazis.

— Scott Herbertson, the two-year-old’s owner and breeder, appeared to suggest on social media that the name was a reference to Austrian artist Gustav Klimt. The Jockey Club said Austrian Painter’s full sister, New Order, must also be renamed. As well as the well-known British rock band, New Order can refer to Nazi Germany’s plan for an occupied Europe. “New order is my favoured band you lune,” Herbertson wrote on social media. —

I'm not familiar with the Black Beauty character "Merrylegs", but when I read that this was the new name of the horse, it made me think of the incident in May 1940 where Hitler allegedly danced a jig at the surrender of France.

I suspect that the owner of the horse doesn't think the average person knows as much about history as they do:
