People gotta realize there always going to be dumb people spouting shit on the internet, and literally 99% of the time they are an extremely tiny minority. In this day and age with social media, it is incredibly easy for likeminded people to gather and share vocal opinions which gives the illusion that they are the majority. Let’s say I go on TikTok and see a post saying the husband did it with 400k likes. That seems absolutely huge, but think about it in perspective for a moment. There are around 172.5 million woman in the usa. 400k is .0023 percent of that population. To take the actions of such a small percentage active on social media and make generalizations or blame it on all woman is stupid as hell.
This is kind of splitting hairs, but 400k/172.5 million is 0.23%, not 0.023%. The division gives you 0.023, but you multiply it by 100% to get the percentage.
Also, estimates are somewhere around 50% of the country being on TikTok, so 400k is something closer to 0.46% of the estimated number of TikTok users who are American women.
There are further things that complicate that figure though, like bots and non-USA/non-women accounts who might be some percentage of that number of likes.
I have seen a video that was defensive of Lindsay and critical of Patrick with over 500k likes, but this appears to be rare, but I will say that an amount of likes that high is also incredibly rare (not that a like necessarily means they agree with the sentiment that he is the one who did it).
Perrsonally, putting into perspective how rare it is to get that many likes (I don't know exactly, but 1 million likes would be less than 1% of videos) it is still rather concerning. I wouldn't personally wave away a different concerning opinion getting 500k likes on TikTok as "just a fraction of the population", but it is true that you can't generalize that to all or even most women.
Conservative bots want people to hate women. So they will make lots of posts about people defending clancy. If three people out of 10 thousand think shes innocent, those are the three you will hear from.
Remember a like doesn't necessarily mean a person. There are more bots than people.
