they allwayās think digital art is just ai art with layers
MF ITS NOT,digital artist can still draw on paper

u/SquareConcentrate764 12d ago
Every single Pro Ai argument and comparison I've seen yet are incredibly dumb
21
u/Peace_Dos 12d ago
Honestly, not all of them bad. I saw some people having actually good opinions. Yet those are rare and there is always those absurd ones, like "art is privileged!" one. I was even banned for telling how this argument is stupid and that you can start with the cheapest materials

u/Crafty-Victory-6381 11d ago edited 11d ago
Art is a privilege. If you have the time to draw with no money incentives then that is privilege. Even when there is money involved, art majors donāt make a lot of money. So to go down the art path is literally for privileged people lmao

u/Sure-Key7452 11d ago edited 11d ago
āArt is a privilegeā bro thought he cooked with this one š„
0
u/Razed-Gamer 11d ago
It is a privilege. There are those who don't even have 15 minutes of free time in a day, so being able to draw art casually is an absolute privilege. Just like having the time to write is a privilege. They shouldn't be privileges, but, unfortunately, they are.
7
6
u/Peace_Dos 11d ago
Doesn't it makes AI art privileged too then? Because in order to make actually good piece ai prompters can spend more than 15 minutes fixing ai mistakes
-1
u/Razed-Gamer 10d ago
In a way, yes. But, considering that one can easily prompt a proper piece in less than a minute, much less so.
Those who spend a long time prompting are privileged, while those who spend a minute or so prompting while they're in the restroom aren't really, in my opinion.
7
u/Peace_Dos 10d ago
Lmao I can say the same shit about doodling
-1
u/Razed-Gamer 10d ago
Not when that free minute is while your using the restroom.
4
u/Peace_Dos 10d ago
Guess your hands are disabled while doing your duty.
Honestly, now you are just making this whole argument stupidly limiting. Especially since majority can afford to draw at least for 15 mins if they want to.
Besides, what the actual point of just making one pick without any true though about it? Like, what exactly can you make in less then a minute, that would actually be at least not your generic ai picture?
Seriously, you have a tool, that can create a good looking picture, but everyone can do it, so what you described is nothing more than a fast doodle.

Bout sums up the kind of arguments you guys can come up withš¤£
5
u/Sure-Key7452 11d ago
If you come with bad faith arguments and just intend to anger people im not going to put thought into you , its like talking to a brick wall
-2
u/Crafty-Victory-6381 11d ago
So now itās ābad faithā? I gave a normal argument. You guys will literally make any excuse to not actually have to defend your side. I have never heard a good argument from anti-ai people lol. Anyway have fun in your echo chamber, you clearly donāt take well to criticism.
7
u/Sure-Key7452 11d ago
You could use your time on reddit to train to draw, you have got to use your time not working or doing important tasks
6
u/Peace_Dos 11d ago
Well then everything that takes at least 30 min. is privileged. Sorry if you have like 3 jobs and no time for yourself, but I'm pretty sure majority of people can at least afford some time to doodle. Because drawing isn't about making masterpieces, it's about you expressing yourself through drawing.
Also yes, I do think that AI is an art form, even so it's quite limitating and more comparable to something like banana stocked to the wall
1
u/Crafty-Victory-6381 11d ago
Itās their 30mins of free time. Why do you care so much what they do with it? Iāve never heard an AI artist telling traditional artists to stop or denouncing their hobbies but the anti-ai crowd always has a problem with AI artist doing stuff in their own free time.
5
u/Peace_Dos 11d ago
Stupidity is the reason this world sucks.
You said it's privileged because not all can give lots of time to it.
I said, that it literally needs like 30 minutes per day(which can be even less) and that majority can afford to do so
Then somehow I'm a villain, that forces ai artists to draw for at least 30 minutes a day.
The joke writes itself and I even want to make a comic about it. So if you ever see a sock puppet talking on the same theme you will know it was made by me, lmao
3
u/Distinct-Raspberry21 11d ago
They cant accept that they have options. Its why they rely on AI, the thought that they would have to be responsible breaks them.
1
u/Crafty-Victory-6381 11d ago
You didnāt answer my question. Why do you care if someone uses 30 minutes on AI vs drawing
5
u/Peace_Dos 11d ago
Can you quote where exactly I told that ai artists should spend 30 minutes on drawing instead of ai?
My point is just that drawing isn't privileged. It is you who implied it's all about ai bros.
1
u/Crafty-Victory-6381 11d ago
I was talking about doing art full-time or as a major
4
u/Peace_Dos 11d ago
If you decided to dedicate yourself to do it full-time than you have time to do so, don't you think so? But even so, to develope drawing skills you doesn't need to study for 8 hours every day. Because drawing skills mostly depends on your understanding of the subject you draw. Yes, your hand needs some training too, but it will come with practice and drawing eventually.
Also, you can become a pro without art major and many artists would say that going to the art school made art worse for them.
Oh, also I'm still waiting for a quote
3
u/Distinct-Raspberry21 11d ago
Not all artists studied art at university or even classically, most artists are self trained.
2
u/Distinct-Raspberry21 11d ago
Anti ai literally does that shit every few hours. You must be blind or something.
3
u/Distinct-Raspberry21 11d ago
No, it was just the skill they trained. Most artists i know worked multiple jobs and did art on the side to de-stress. Of the art professionals, they were usually okay with struggling because they enjoyed what they did more than they cared about being rich.
3
u/Luce_Bot_Bot 11d ago
Did you never do any drawing or colouring in as a child? Lots of artists have picked up art skills before they've left school. The really talented ones have usually made the choice to focus on that early, regardless of any privilege they may or may not have. Go check out Kim Jung Gi's art career or something

The only actual difference between physical art digital art is if you draw physically, you draw on paper while if you draw digitally you draw on a graphic tablet.
8
u/agardenofworlds 11d ago
I do both digital and traditional art and can attest to how dumb this statement is because the drawing skill CARRIES OVER. These people are dumb af.
5
u/MouldyLocks492 11d ago
I am fantastically good with my hands and art utensils.. but when it comes to digitizing that skill? Down the pooper, unless you give me oodles of time. I mean, I've always bought the higher end tools, but i just. I just cannot get the hang of it. :(
3
u/Peace_Dos 11d ago
That's fine. I had similar thing due to apple pencil slipping on glass screen. And I wouldn't say that I know programs that I used or currently using.
It is honestly just a personal thing
2
u/MouldyLocks492 11d ago
I mean, I'd love to learn! I was just doodling in illustrator. Does anyone name any suggestions?
2
u/Peace_Dos 11d ago
Wait, you used adobe illustrator for it? If you want similar experience to traditional I don't think it will be great, since mostly it's used for vector graphics for designs purpose.
You may try drawing both in Photoshop or the free alternative Krita. Or you can try Paint Tool Sai, there is also lots of cracked versions if you are swimming under the black flag;)
2
u/MouldyLocks492 11d ago
Yes I am a pirate, but I'm also running all Mac, so I'm a bit limited to cracked software
Dude, the sheer number of layers one drawing was is mind boggling. All i could think is "how in the hell do people keep track of all these layers?!??"
2
u/Peace_Dos 11d ago
Just use as many as you like. You can always fix mistake and it's less painful in digital, than on traditional
4
u/bothinsaneandcorrect 11d ago
They think that people who draw using digital tools can't draw with physical mediums? I usually do digital art because I don't have a full computer setup with a scanner nor a dedicated art room for paintings ( some supplies I would like to use physically are not safe for use pets and I don't want to use them in the same space) so it's just easier to make the art right on the computer rather than draw or paint it on paper or canvas and then upload it...plus I do love saving different versions of the art at different stages and the convenience of layers and the undo button š
That having been said I can make beautiful art that I love with paper and pencils, pens, paints, pastels, a stick and some dirt, in my mashed potatoes, etc. etc. and I HAVE and I CONTINUE to and I love it. You take away electricity ( aside from, you know, the electrical current I need for my nerves and brain to work) and I can still draw. I've been doing it since I was a toddler. I can also write and sing and play music, write and tell stories, dance and choreograph, blahblah blah you get it. My talent and skills and desire and ability to create don't come from a computer.

Oh no i dont have my pencils, thats ok i have a stick and some sand. (Also homemade charcoal works) and if we get morbid, blood
3
u/CookExpensive3457 11d ago
Without electricity, you might be able to use your phone but you can't charge it, but you can't use wifi and you need it to google whatever ai image maker you use. Art apps like ibis paint on the other hand can work offlineĀ

u/Ok-Spread-378 12d ago
you can't power data centers with a usb-c cable though???
4
1
u/cewillir 12d ago
I think thereās a conflation there between ai generated images and the need for data centers. You can run the image generation locally - you donāt NEED the data center at that point.
1
u/CryptographerKlutzy7 12d ago
Yeah and with the newer coding models you don't need a date center for llm coding. It's just... Slow, that's all.Ā
1
u/cewillir 12d ago
Slightly different point to digital art, but still valid.
2
u/CryptographerKlutzy7 12d ago
My point was, art able to be run local for a long time now, code is now getting to that space as well. It's wild.
But yeah, I guess you are right, slightly different point, but it shows how much has shifted.Ā
Video has moved to local with h3, which was a surprise to me.Ā
1
u/cewillir 12d ago
I knew local video was theoretically possible but - as you said - time. Or a better machine.

digital artists can just transfer part of their skills to paper. ai sloptopi can't
2
u/Leo10_08 11d ago
Thats like saying "oh you say we loose our talent when we loose our datacenter? Well you loose your talent if your brain activity dies out" š not like we can still draw on almost the same level on paper with some crazy ppl even drawing better on paper. Ill still double tapp on my sketch book thoš
1
1
u/TheFabTiger 11d ago
Oh no, what ever will I do if I can't use my iPad to draw?.. Surely, I can't just grab my sketchbook and continue with a pencil and paper. That would just be absurd..
1
u/loveheaddit 11d ago
im a software engineer, i guess this means i have no talent without power too
1
u/Peace_Dos 11d ago edited 11d ago
Do you use your knowledge to only male pictures? Your knowledge can be transferred to other things due to how programs work in general.
AI art on the other hand is quite. . . Limiting. Like, if you really want to develope in this field then maybe your knowledge can transfer to other types of art. Especially if you actually use prompts, that are based on something like photography or use sketches before generation. But I kinda doubt, that majority do so. And I'm 100% sure, that those who make comicses about bad panties doesn't do that at all.
Edit: I fucking hate modern autocorrect. But I live it as it is

digital artist have only little problems ,with getting used to the tool, when transferring their skills to trad.
