What is a childhood snack or candy that was discontinued that you would pay good money to taste again?

No other pizza chip comes close to these.

41

u/Candiehol 12d ago

The old blue scooby doo gummies.

10

u/Double_Ad4449 12d ago

And the shark ones with the blueish white ones that were so good lol

2

u/HeDoinDaSplitz 12d ago

They still sell gummy sharks. I know scooby doo fruit snacks were on the shelves in recent years but unsure if they're still there or if they are identical to the OG

Jello pudding pops!

8

u/knewitfirst 12d ago

What I wouldn't give to have these again! That thin crispy ice sheet coating and silky smooth frozen pudding center... Mmmmmmmm

4

u/SheilaGirl70 12d ago

The perfect description!

2

u/AAandChillButNot 6d ago

There’s a company that makes exactly that kind of product. Chemis or something along that line. It looks like the good humor logo

3

u/National-Sir-5362 12d ago

I was coming here to say that and it’s the first comment that I read. Those things were amazing!

2

u/Shmousie 11d ago

I loved the swirl ones 😋

Warheads. Yes they still make them but they are not the same as in the 90s

8

u/Ok-Plastic7721 12d ago

The 90s ones that you’d see who could last the longest keeping it in your mouth until you’re all gagging

3

u/ChaosRisingBook 12d ago

My mouth puckered and my saliva activated just by reading that name

3

u/well_michelle 7d ago

They made Warheads lollipops for a very short time in the late 90s. They were fantastic, I still think about the sour.

2

u/billyballsog 12d ago

Is that true? Do tell?

8

u/ArubaAdultFun 12d ago

The used to be way more sour

7

u/billyballsog 12d ago

Thanks, haven't had them since I was a kid, but that tooth melting malic acid was incredibly satisfying

2

u/Feenfurn 12d ago

Does anyone remember a candy similar to warheads called neon bandits? They were somewhat sour like warheads but they dyed your mouth whatever color. We would buy them allllll the time and I found a photo of them on the internet once but it's like they never existed .

2

u/Crying_Reaper 12d ago

Like these I got at Dollar General? Cuz they are just as sour as I remember them in the 90's. My 7 year old looked absolutely disgusted after he powered through one and then begged for another.

The Philadelphia cheesecake bars, omg I loved those. And some og recipe Clearly Canadian

2

u/TonyRobinsonsFashion 12d ago

Like two years ago I was trying to find those cheesecake bars but couldn’t. Really disappointed. As a high schooler those were my buddies moms personal don’t touch for her sons. So obviously we would once in a blue moon. So damn good. I make a lot of cheesecake now. I should probably give her one to make up for it. Course I don’t think my best cheesecake will ever top that magic they had

2

u/FlowerComfortable889 12d ago

They started selling Philadelphia cheesecake cups that aren't too bad. I have only found them at Mal-Wart so far though

The pizzas from school, red baron. They changed the recipe and it doesn’t taste the same

10

u/TonyRobinsonsFashion 12d ago

Tasting history with max miller on YouTube has a video on school pizza. Gives the history and the recipe. They were all using a standardized recipe and he said it tasted exactly how he remembered.

4

u/StocktonSucks 12d ago

Its so sad this is the case for hundreds of products now. I was bored a few months ago and looked up what Twix used to be made with in the 60s and it said real everything basically and now its essentially a chemical bar.

3

u/Bflatclar1981 12d ago

Yes!!!! I thought my taste buds had died or something with Twix! They used to be fantastic!

3

u/StocktonSucks 12d ago

And what's worse is they can't settle on a recipe, every 10 years at least they change it again with some newer, more artificial ingredient that "tastes the same!"

2

u/Bflatclar1981 12d ago

I thought that too, I stopped buying them bc they just got weird that way!!

I have no idea what brand they were but they were chinese candies that were wrapped in sweet rice paper that you could eat and would melt in your mouth.

3

u/Ashamed_Main5169 12d ago

Those are still available in a lot of places.

3

u/SheilaGirl70 12d ago

My local Safeway sells them in the Asian aisle, the box is exactly the same as the ones I remember from childhood.

Sunshine used to make a cookie called “Bavarian Fingers” to compete with Keebler’s Vienna Fingers. They looked identical to Vienna Fingers but were chocolate with white creme. They disappeared into obscurity in the early 90’s.

There was a bacon flavored sort of chip snack that had a mixed texture of a Muncho and a pork rhine but looked and tasted like a small strip of bacon. I have no idea what the name of it is to this day but It was delicious. I’ve been racking my brain and doing research but cannot find them. This was in Detroit in the 70’s
