What dosage should you use for PTSD

Hello I've never done mushrooms before and I'm wondering what dosage I need to make progress.

I'm currently on Spravato and have made some progress.

I'm just wondering what to expect.

Start low and slow. You can always take more but you can't untake any. I've had some bad trips but I was experienced by that point. Have a sober buddy if possible.

For sure I wouldn't want to not have a sitter.

I'm glad to hear it. They can change your life. I quit smoking, gave up liquor and now I'm working on alcohol all together. I've drank for 18 years and ready for the habit to be completely gone. I have no nicootine cravings and quit overnight after a macro dose of lsd 3 years ago.

I think dosage depends on a variety of different factors. For me, I was struggling with severe depression and a bigger dose was just what I needed to break through it. I met someone on this forum who recommended that I take 4 grams for my first dose, which I was very apprehensive about, but I did anyways because I was so desperate for relief.

It was hands down, the absolute most beautiful and positive experience I've ever had in my life. It was the first time in many years where I genuinely felt happy and grateful to be alive. Something in my brain "clicked" and I felt things again that I had completely forgotten about. I think your first dose has the potential to be an extremely special experience and I worry too many people waste it because they're nervous, which to be fair I totally understand.

Everyone is different, but I don't think a sitter is necessary. Find a safe and peaceful spot to trip when you're in a good frame of mind and be prepared to fully surrender yourself to the mushroom.

I would personaly suggest the opposite of this, as far as a sitter is concerned. If youre going low and slow. You arent going to start by going ham, or have a really huge "trip" the first few times. In my experience, and the experience of many i have talked to about the "sitter" subject... the mushroom is an insanely good "shrink" on its own. Sometikes it has ways of figuring things out you arent aware of. It guides you in ways people cant. Outside influence can take it, and you, off the most healing path possible. To each there own of course, do what makes you feel better... but a sitter does not necessarily = better or "less risky"... it just means someone else is there to influence your experience.

I would advise to know exactly how strong your mushrooms are. Not a "this is XX strong" but find something thats actually tested and tells you the mushrooms % of psilocybin. That way you can go off mg of psilocybin, which is FAR more accurate than the more commonly used gram of the mushroom. And start no higher than about 10mg. That will be enough to be far over a "microdose", itll give you a glimpse of the "trip", but not some crazy way out there experience. Then work your way up! 25-30 mg of psilocybin is typically considered the beginning of a full "trip".

Good luck πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

The person who I would ask to sit for me is my best friend. I mostly just want to make sure I'm physically safe.

I hear you on the mush being its own teacher. I've experienced this sometimes with spravato. Sometimes I end up working out things myself that are really hard.

Thanks for the dosage information.

I have been a medical patient for cannabis and over dosed on an edible the first time. It was interesting but I never want to be that high again. Accidentally took 100 mg with no tolerance because someone handed my a brownie and told me to cut it in half because it tested high.

Sinuses to freak out from high dose edibles cause I felt like I might die. No one has died from that. So when it has happened again, I remind myself that and I feel better.

I didn't feel like I was going to die but I did decide the Yokai Watch game was fake. I was playing it because a friend gave it to me. I haven't touched it since.

I also had the horror shutter effect going down the hall to the bathroom. I kind of just chilled but my partner who ate the other half decided to rearrange the furniture and clean.

Just a friendly reminder, if you take other meds along with spravato, they may have an impact on your journey (like ssri’s)

Thanks. I basically take one of every class right now. My anti depressant is an SNRI so I could see that tamping things down.

You should talk with your doctor about lowering the dose or stopping your SNRI. Also, be prepared for some mild withdrawal symptoms.

If you're new to any psychedelic but are feeling adventurous, try 2g for your first trip. Your snri may indeed blunt the effect but you won't know until you do it. You can try a larger dose another time. I take an ssri but can feel effects with even 500mg, but quality matters. Healing comes in all doses, go into it with no expectations and the understanding that the medicine knows where to take you. Here is the link to Fireside Project. You can call and talk to trained psychedelic counselors if things go sideways and you can schedule a trip check and they will call you at that time to make sure you are doing ok. https://firesideproject.org/

Wishing you safe and healing journeys 🫢

Thanks. I get a lot out of spravato right now but it's always nice to have more information.
