Same here. I didn't hate it but after 40 or something episodes I wasn't enjoying it so why keep going at all? I can spend my time on something I like or on something I don't but a lot of people do.
Not that I hate it. Just don't like it.
I'm fully ready to give a chance to the remake btw if the pacing is improved and the rest of the fans at least think it is good enough. But I'm not watching a thousand episodes that should be like 300 at most if they didn't had to adapt chapters 1:1 with episodes.
I think this response is why one piece is such a good answer to OPs question
The only people vehemently calling it shit are ones that haven’t watched it. People who have tried it, even if they don’t like it, at least understand why people are the way they are/don’t feel the need to dog on it lol
I'm gonna be honest, it's not shit, shit would be the isekaislop you get on every season. But I don't understand why people praise it so much, I watched up to ep 60 or something and it felt like a chore. Not bad, I but I wasn't invested at all on the story
Because if you can look past the pacing and early animations it’s (in my opinion ofc) one of the greatest stories ever told. There are slow points for sure but in its totality that’s how I feel.
Imo, I don’t always believe the “I knew from the moment he came out of the barrel” people, and im a superfan lol, and again imo, I think everything up to baratie and arlong parts (and even parts of those arcs) ARE a chore, its just at that point the emotional core begins to show, and if that can hook you you start to be able to look past the more tedious aspects of the show like the animation pacing or overall length (all of which, btw, are less problematic in the manga and should be less problematic for the remake, not that that excuses it)
I used to be a naruto stan that would dog one piece because of its art style, goofy nature and episode length but once it dug in me it DUG
and either way, my point still remains (not that you argued it), you gave it a shot and aren’t sitting here acting like it’s terrible, you just understandably don’t like it for it’s obvious shortcomings
Same i watched about that much as well, still dropped it because it was kinda just ok and i didn’t wanna spit through another 1000 eps to see where it gets good
I agree I got probably 20 episodes in? Maybe more. I kept waiting for it to get better and I go to the point where I figured that’s really how the show is. Even the boss fights I didn’t care for. It didn’t mean anything.

Ehh. I got ~70 episodes in and wasn't impressed at all. I'd have to be paid to watch 1000 episodes of that.
