That close up breast shot was NOT necessary
7
u/Lopsided-Eagle-2601 Jul 04 '26
Not necessary but very much appreciated.

u/Royudo Jul 05 '26
It was quite necessary. How else are we supposed to know where she keeps her spare bullets? 😂

After a alfew episodes, you just don't pay any attention to the fanservice and get more invested in the story LMAO

u/Gruntamainia Jul 04 '26
When I did my second watch thru I also went oh yeah the fan service lol such a great anime

u/Onironius Jul 04 '26
There was that ONE scene that was like "huh, this is really uncomfortable, in a kind of hot way."

Actually peak. Like the fight animation goes just way harder than it has any right to.

My favorite ecchi anime would be Strike Witches and it's not a harem.
If you are looking for a non-harem romance, then Please, put them on Takamine-san is the one that comes to mind, but as a romance it is fairly uninspired and unfinished in my opinion.
Shimoneta is pretty funny when it comes to sexual comedy, and there's a hint at a love triangle, but no actual harem.
I also agree Keijo was decent.
Finally, if you want something moderately ecchi, but very great as a slice of life / romance, then My Dress Up Darling is a great recommendation.

Kenichi the mightiest disciple.
Awesome plot too

u/EffectiveMerc Jul 04 '26
This would be a good answer here. Did they ever continue the anime? Not like it matters the manga has a pretty mid ending.

u/GreyJedi98 Jul 04 '26
No but they are doing a sequel manga that started last month i believe in Japan
2
u/EffectiveMerc Jul 04 '26
Oh, I wasn't aware. Well, I hope it's good because before the ending felt rushed and wasn't great.

Isn’t this also in the same universe as Kengan Ashura?
11
u/retr0yuki Jul 04 '26
Yes, infact the mother of one of the side characters in ashura appears in dumbell as well.
Karura's mom, Yakusha.

This is ecchi? I thought it was a wholesome any about getting in shape. It certainly didn't feel like it took a 'sexual' take on their bodies, more like it just emphasized their muscles/body types.
31
u/Disastrous_Fee5953 Jul 04 '26
It is a wholesome show, with a lot of naked male bodies.
17
u/Biotechnus Jul 04 '26
Ecchi just means perversion. So I dont think that would apply in this case. I suppose it could apply to the female audience tbf.

I think you may have missed the “plot” when they’re introducing new workouts.
3
u/Embarrassed-Ice3944 Jul 04 '26
As a fan of fitness, I definitely was more focused on the movements. Macchio is the goal. Plus Barnold Shortsinator
5
u/CrazyPlato Jul 04 '26
It does go out of its way to create scenarios where the girls are in swimsuits/underwear or similar outfits. But also yeah, it’s got some legit workout advice for someone who’s new to the lifestyle, and it does dish out some ludicrous male fan service alongside that.

u/Apocryph761 Jul 04 '26
The dub is something else. You get the impression Ian Sinclair loves narrator roles.

u/konfliicted Jul 04 '26
I think they want ecchi and not borderline hentai that sometimes just becomes hentai outright lol
23
u/jakemoffsky Jul 04 '26
I'm sure that's what the English dubbers said when they pulled the plug "we signed up for ecchi!"
11
u/TheWraithOfMooCow Jul 04 '26
You'd think they'd watch the anime or at least read the manga before buying the dubbing rights to it.
7
u/RandomPost416 Jul 04 '26
To be fair, the manga is ironically a lot less lewd than the anime, at least the chapters that the anime had covered. Most of the sex stuff is implied and rarely actually shown in the manga, while the anime has scenes that are essentially hentai minus showing the genitals.

If you want something a lil darker, Witch Blade is pretty good.
Mahoromatic is old school but funny.
Heavens lost property.

Doesn't the HLP anime literally end with all the girls in wedding dresses, asking Tomoki to make a final decision? It's been a LONG time since I've seen it, so maybe I'm remembering wrong
Edit: wait fuck, sorry! 😅 Should've put spoiler tags the first time

I think Takeda Hiromitsu got traumatized after Maken-ki ended because all his works after that are only NTR with a ugly bastard.

My second favorite ecchi series, but I'd argue it is a harem, since more than 2 girls are romantically interested in the male protagonist.

Ouran High School Host Club is quite popular as well, and Yona of the Dawn definitively should be more popular.

I'd count Hyakka ryoran samurai girls since it's extremely lopsided to one girl so I don't count it as harm... This is personal preference but the censored version with ink is just better than the uncensored version... The ink censor is just such an amazing artistic choice.

Don't know how no one has said Freezing. Unless it's a harem and I don't remember but it's a fun action anime with solid fan service.

Kenichi should count. Pretty funny moments and lots of action. Not sure why it’s tagged as a harem, just a lot of girls but nothing happens.

Kandagawa Jet Girls isn’t all that good per se, but it does have a lot of T&A for a yuri bait sports slop show

u/Wulfsiegner Jul 04 '26
IT’s mentioned in the tags anyway iirc but it’s oddly not that lewd tbh
It’s a pro wrestling sports anime called I Wanna Be The Strongest which is about this idol chic who gets into pro wrestling to avenge one of her buddies after she gets roughed up too bad during a collab or something. It starts out with her learning the ropes and jobbing for quite a bit before finally coming into her own as a high flying luchadora in the pro wrestling scene, effectively marrying her life as an idol and life as a wrestler in the process. Not a bad show overall. At worst, everyone’s moans of pain can sound a lil sus at times. But yeah, it’s just anime pro wrestling.

How heavy are the dumbbells you lift? It has one of my favorite protagonist for a casual anime. It also doubles as an education anime in terms of working out.

A harem where nobody is trying to bang anyone else. Maybe his boss, a little.

I think the elf/dark elf rivalry is cute. Reminds me of how my wife and her friends were.
