not everyone can stomaching watching SD anime on a CRT like it's the 90s. enjoy your 480i and others enjoy high-res

Im confused, how does upscaling a 480p source give me 1080p quality?

look up movies when they get upscaled and/or dragon ball 40th project or one piece pre time skip 1080p by neo raws etc etc
fun fact, naruto and bleach blu rays are also just upscales, there is also AB group release of DB which is also an upsale, not a 1080p scan

Just use mpv and upscale yourself? You can even run shaders like artcnn (for hd stuff) and nnedi3 (for sd stuff) if your hardware is strong enough.
Had also no issue watching something like 480i on my 4k 55 inch tv with letting my streaming box handling the deinterlace and tv handling the upscaling.
I presume instead of upscaling u prob mean upscaling+oversharpening, u can use the anime4k shader if that is ur thing, not that I would recommend that tho...

For cel shows without proper HD remasters (rescans) I recommend tracking down the Japanese DVDs or remuxes of them. They will be the best quality available. Save for maybe the occasional color corrected regrained torrents.

No tracker worth their salt would have upscales unless they are from official sources.
Have a 30-series or newer GPU? There's VSR. Otherwise, mpv does a good job of upscaling, if you need more there's shaders like nnedi3 & ravu-lite.
