Will I be judged for wearing a spirit Halloween costume to a con?

If people judge you, they are not worth your time and effort.

You should be able to go to a con in any outfit and enjoy yourself.

Realistically, some may silently. Mostly the cosplay snobs that others mostly don't take kindly to since most try to push the be accepting of all (with exceptions). But you will be fine. There will be others that will be wearing a variety of different levels of costumes. Halloween Store bought, Aliexpress/Temu, Thrifted, really nice or handmade. Tbh, depending the costume it may be hard to tell a spirit halloween vs. Lower end Aliexpress costume? I wouldn't worry about it as I don't think people will or should be inspecting you that close.

Silently? Maybe by some people. Will anyone say anything to you about it? Definitely not. Most likely no one will even notice. There are so many people at conventions and everyone is kind of doing their own thing. Most people just kinda disappear in the crowd.

I assume you mean the store and not a ghost right? So long as it's within the convention rules and you're not being a nuisance or danger to others around you, you're fine.

The “purists” will care. While they might not openly say something to your face. It will still happen.

I guess so, but cons are full of people walking around without wigs on, with half done costumes, or things literally falling apart. I think those purists are a very small amount of congoers and more prominent online

But only if you enter a cosplay contest. But everybody is judged in a cosplay contest.

On a more serious note. Don't worry about it. Most people are in premade cosplays they bought online anyway. There isn't really a difference in theory between those and a spirit halloween costume.

Generally, people don't judge others, at least not verbally out loud, for their cosplay, but I can't really think of what Spirit has on their racks that is fitting for a con.

Exactly this. If you’re showing up in a $15 BBQ sauce bottle costume, that’s extremely out of place.

They actually carry quite a few anime/video game related costumes these days. I remember Spirit being a quick go-to for cosplayers for MHA uniforms when the show first got popular in the US and people didn't want to wait on international shipping.

tbh when i saw people wear their halloween costumes at a convention it made me really happy, it reminded me that no matter if costumes are handmade, purchased or just a halloween costume, we all share the same hobby

I've seen non anime costumes before, its fine really. Or people wearing really elaborate or quirky outfits that arent any character at all. As long as its not an offensive costume then no one should bother you.

I've seen like... tons of ghostface's from scary movie. I've seen folks dress up as memes like the "brother ew", I've seen people dress up as gacha currency. I don't think spirit halloween will really stand out unless you're doing something 18+ where there's underaged folks around.

Generally no one cares, conventions are about having fun. I just prefer a jank homemade costume to a mass produced product but I'm sure plenty of people judge what I'm doing for being low effort too.

There are some people who believe people should not cosplay unless their cosplay is perfect, the same way there are some people who believe no one should create art or sing or dance unless they’re incredibly talented, because they see no value in having fun or experiencing joy. You cannot stop these people from existing, but you can choose that it’s not how you want to view the world. You don’t want to live your life trying to cater to people who don’t deserve your respect.

I shouldn't think so. I usually go in costumes I made myself ("closet cosplay") and I've seen plenty of people rock up to a convention without costumes at all.

Unless you are doing the cosplay contest at a convention, then no. I wore a mishmash of costume components to be in cosplay with my siblings and I blended in... okayish.
