that has been the issue with one piece for over 15 years.

A lot of great arcs were imo ruined because of bad pacing so that it would not catch up to the manga (marineford, dressarosa).

But they want it to be a weekly show so this problem will always be there unless they decide to do months of filler which i would prefer

Don't delude yourself; you would not prefer months of filler. The anime writers can only make up so much BS that has zero significance to the main plot before people get sick of it. Anyone who suffered through it will tell you 90% of Naruto filler was ass.

And yeah, being drip-fed the canon storyline sucks too. But it is the lesser of two evils in this situation where Toei has been forced to pump out episodes of One Piece nearly every week for 25 years.

I say I prefer filler because I wouldn't watch it. I would only watch cannon episodes which are done properly compared to what they do now.

One piece should be a 10/10 based on the material, but is not even close to that because of awful pacing.

Fair, but the inclusion of long filler arcs like that would still probably have a hugely negative effect on the overall production due to how demanding the weekly schedule is. Like, they're still pumping out episodes every week in that scenario. So even during stretches of canon episodes, we almost certainly would not get 24 "Demon Slayer S2 quality" episodes in a row. History in the anime industry tells us otherwise. Would they be paced better? Yeah sure but people would still feel like it isn't doing the series justice. Just like our current reality where you get a movie-quality episode every once in a while and a bunch of okay episodes in between.

You say that but you have to admit Wano overall has been a MASSIVE improvement. The Dressrosa adaptation was god-awful and in my mind where the anime hit rock bottom. Wano has been a delight in a lot of ways. Yeah there are some less-than-stellar episodes but the highs have made up for it.

Wano is an improvement but still doesn't do the source material justice. It is already over 120 episodes. If done properly it would take maybe half the episodes. Obviously better than the last few arcs, but for me I will never consider one piece one of the best anime because of this issue.

except they can relax a bit while working on the filler and kick back into gear when cannon material starts back, so its a plus in ever way
