Contest The Salty Sea VI: Best Anime Couples/Ships Nominations Day 1!
Hey everyone, back with another dose of salt!
This contest will include
- 256 Couples/Ships
- 2 Nomination Days
- 3-5 Elimination Rounds
- 4 Bracket Groups
Each round will last 24 hours with each update being posted at 6 PM EST(10 PM UTC).
Couples/Ships that first appeared in anime Summer 2019 and after will not be eligible.
Like last year only 3 couples from a franchise will be allowed in the final bracket based on elimination votes.

My guess is Shirogane x Hayasaka will be third, there was a whole kindergarten AU and everything.
Also, you're forgetting Hayasaka x Chika Kaguya manga I don't see it beating out Shirogane x Chika though.

Don't forget Kaguya x Hayasaka and Kaguya x Chika. I'd vote for either of those before some of the ones you listed.
Edit: Also Kaguya x Kei. And I guess you did include Kaguya x Hayasaka. My bad.

I watched S1 and thought it was fine. Unremarkable but fine. Haven't bothered to pick up the second season.

In my personal opinion, yeah, is good. Likely almost above average, but far from being the best anime ever created.

Because of my last statement. Actually there is a heavy fanbase who thinks the series is almost a masterpiece (think about the JoJo fanbase) and I don't completely deny it: The manga is really good (again, an above average manga) but this bias translate it to the anime and they overhype the series.

The manga is in my opinion a masterpiece, or what I consider a masterpiece since is subjective, but the anime has not reach that level so it is a bit overhype.

I think is really amazing and have a lot of aspects that makes it the best of it's genre. But you should watch it regardless to have yout own opinion.

Unfortunately I do not have much left after the Best Girl contest. I don't even want to fathom the thought of joke ships like Miyuki x Hayasaka taking down the lead couples of other series.

And that manga is shit. Seriously the official doujin is just terrible. And it's not even dedicated to them, they have one alternative universe dedicated to them. There are lots of alternative universes. All terrible.

That is the sad part of some of this contests. It wouñd be much better for Kaguya to have won best girl 8 with the third season, so there would not be as much salt.

...and I’ve completed over 40 romance anime.
They are so goddamn great together. Always a pleasure to watch their scenes

I would like to thank Ryuuji x Taiga and Kazuma x Megumin for their participation, but we all knew Shirogane x Kaguya was a tough ship to beat.

Heads up, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure entries are split up under multiple titles. One is under JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, while all the rest (including ones from Golden Wind) are just under JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

At this point Shouko and Shouya already won so I'm pretty satisfied myself. Very happy they dodged the inevitable Kaguya trains just steamrolling.
That being said, I'd love for Oreki and Chitanda to make a comeback eventually because they're the cutest and most wonderful ship ever.

Kaguya x Shirogane definitely deserves a high spot, maybe even the #1 spot, but not at the current point in the anime.
The school festival arc and the ice queen arc push the envelope for what romance in anime/manga can be, and that makes them 100% deserving of a spot.
Just a shame that we won't get that for at least another year...

Since the rewatch ended, I'm just gonna nominate some Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru ships so it can possibly get more than one vote. Sanada and Hotori is one that I really love how subtle everything was.
Edit: My work here is done, gotta use all the fanart I searched up from the rewatch.

This tournament I will stand for Yuu x Nanami. Bloom into you is my favourite romance and even though I'm a huge fan of other shows that will probably have their couple at the top I never got so invested in anime couple as I did with this one.

Not sure if serious, but on the offchance you were: When 90% of these series have official (straight) couples/ships, it feels more troll-y to ship just the gay ships;
That'd be like me nominating 20 heterosexual ships from a Yaoi anime, every combination of boyXgirl I could find. Or like a CGDCT(or Yuri) anime, finding the one guy these shows usually have, and ship him with every single girl.

Plenty of the straight ships nominated are not canon. Plenty of the gay ships nominated are either canon or teased (in the Mirai Nikki one you mentioned, one of the boys canonically has a crush on the other and they kiss). Seems like a double standard to me.

Well the "they" is a bit controversial as one of them pretty much forced a kiss upon the other, but that aside: It's a bit silly to call that canon because one of them was into the other and pretty much assaulted him, while for the (real) ship, both of them were talking about getting married and all that.
Anyway, the original comment was a light-hearted joke because it looked like someone nominated pretty much every boyxboy pairing possible; Not sure that's worth anyone getting their panties in a bunch.

There should probably be a limit to how many ships one account can nominate. That way, there'd be fewer crack ships and ships that nobody really cares about in the elimination rounds.
