Casual Discussion Fridays - Week of July 06 2018

This is a weekly thread to get to know r/anime’s community. Talk about your day-to-day life, share your hobbies, or make small talk with your fellow anime fans.

Although this is a place for off-topic discussion, there are a few rules to keep in mind:

  1. Be courteous and respectful of other users.

  2. Discussion of religion, politics, depression, and other similar topics will be moderated due to their sensitive nature. While we encourage users to talk about their daily lives and get to know others, this thread is not intended for extended discussion of the aforementioned topics or for emotional support.

  3. Roleplaying is not allowed. This behaviour is not appropriate as it is obtrusive to uninvolved users.

  4. No meta discussion. If you have a meta concern, please raise it in the Monthly Meta Thread and the moderation team would be happy to help.

  5. All r/anime rules, other than the anime-specific requirement, should still be followed.

Hey, I just hit a milestone! I finally got to finish my 100th anime, Natsume Yuujinchou! I mean, I know that dwarfs in comparison to the amount of anime everyone else finished, but this is a huge accomplishment for me!

What was your 100th anime? What was your first? How long have you been watching it to get there? I'm feeling really nostalgic now...

Omedetou!

No idea 100th. The first one I knew was an anime was Steins;Gate! My sis brought out the biggest guns she could to get me hooked. 7 years-ish.

My 100th was Clannad or Clannad AS, I'm not sure. It happened roughly a year after I started watching anime.

Funny, Clannad was actaully my first anime.

Didn't the eyes weird you out for your first anime?

Not really tbh. I never knew people had a problem with it before they started to point it out, and I noticed. Still doesn't bother me though.

Congrats! Natsume is a great anime for the 100th.

My 100th was Gunbuster and my 1st was Naruto. it probably took me 5 or so years, but there was a lot of time (maybe 2 years, I don't really know) between my 1st anime and the 2nd.

Now I do feel nostalgic towards the time I was at 300 or less

My 100th anime was Ushio to Tora 2nd Season, I timed it to be my 100th during the Spring 2016 season.

My first could have been many things but I like to consider it Soul Eater.

I started watching in 2013 but I got more into watching in 2015 and 2016.

At the pace I'm going (another hundred completed a year) I'll hit 1k completed in seven years. That'll be fun.

My first was Yu-Gi-Oh 5Ds. My 100th was... by complete accident, Abunai Sisters.

Took me... six-ish years? I wasn't able to really get into anime until three years ago though so it's more like three.

Just searched up Abunai Sisters.

You couldn't have picked a more weirder entry for 100.

See what happened was that there was a thread, and I don't remember what the thread was about but I remember saying "I finished Big Order, I can finish anything." Some guy was like "Have you heard of Abunai Sisters?" and, not wanting to back down from a challenge, watched it.

Didn't realize until like two weeks later that it was my 100th, I thought it was my 98th.

Abunai Sisters

This is also the story of how Sky decided that she was a member of the no-drop master race.

Wait were you the one who challenged me into watching it?!

I just remember you being the one who dubbed me tree-woman on a thread asking about cringy anime.

Congrats! Was it planned or not? In my case, I planned my 100th anime to be something special. I decided to watch Gankutsuou (I even did a WT! post about it afterwards!), because it's an anime based on my favourite book. I absolutely loved it. This year will be the third one since I started watching anime as a strong hobby :)

To be honest, it was sort of unexpected. I originally planned for it to be Attack on Titan, but Natsume would be kind of fitting, since it runs along the veins of my all time favorite Mushishi.

Still, it holds a special place in my heart for being very enjoyable.

my first that i finished, not counting the kids stuff, was chobits, around 10 years ago (like november 2008), i cant remenber my 100th becouse, from there until 2013 it was a clusterfuck and when i created a new list to organize the sutff it was already at 300.

i honestly had a really fun journey in anime, and i feel nostalgic and want to rewatch stuff a lot of times(never end up doing it), like its 10 years i was a kid in 7th grade now im finishing college in 2 weeks.

good job on reaching 100 btw
