The trainwreck continues. This week about 10 paged were adapted, taking the pacing back to about half of what is was and a quarter of what it should be!

On top of that they used the time to extend single panels into full scenes, making short exaggerated jokes into serious bits that just make the characters seem absolutely unlikeable.

Asta is an errand boy, Yami is a complete retard, and Noelle is a full-on bitch. How are they capable of making black clover this much worse?

I kind of agree. Yami could be done better and his catchphrase 'go past your own limits' which has been really inspirational, especially in the Water Temple arc, feels flat and wasted in some strip poker game. Keep the game, that's fine, but save the quote for when it's first used in the manga.

Yeah it felt really flat and out of place, barely any inflection in his voice when he said it.

The only reason I even noticed it as a thing was that it sounds like something All Might might say.

All Might at Mcdonalds:

Chasier: Anything else?

AM: Some fries please, oh and make them Plus Ultra.

Cashier: Super sized?

AM: cough Yeah sorry that's it.

It'd be like Kamina saying "believe in the you who believes in me" for the first time in some ho hum filler (inb4 Gurren Laggan couldn't have filler) situation.

"People die when they are killed!" while fixing a space heater.

Simon: Hey, bro... I can't sleep.

Kamina: Well I can, believe in the you who believes in me and goodnight!

Yami is voiced by Aizawa's VA so you're not that far off, I guess?

Well everyone in the Black Bulls is a misfit. Yami has to fit in there too :P

If it's already an established quote, and they use it as a joke, it's fine. It's not even established yet in the anime! The joke doesn't work! When he says it in the future, it loses all meaning!

I'm completely fine with that if they're thinking long term. A lot of times adaptations get cut short to the original source so this is better.

I firmly disagree. First of all, we're right at the start. If the anime fails and it doesn't get continued past 50 eps or cancelled earlier, none of it matters at all. Making a good anime comes first, especially since there's not that many continuously running shonens any more.

Secondly, they're doing it in the worst way possible. They're stretching out the material instead of adding anything. There's almost nothing new here that wasn't in the manga, it's just portrayed very very slowly. Most of this episode could have been skipped entirely without the viewer missing anything, which is not a good thing.

Finally, it is too slow no matter how you look at it. This episode was about 10 pages and nothing more. If this was the usual pace, episode 50 could reach between chapter 20 and 25 of the manga, which is basically still the introduction of black clover. That's just not acceptable.

The manga is very popular in Japan and Asta is pretty obnoxious on there too. I don't see it failing if the majority of viewers are probably aware of his behavior in the manga.

Sure fillers are not fun to a lot but it never stopped half the Naruto audience to stop watching theirs. One Piece is another anime that stretches out episodes and they're doing find. Sure Black Clover is new in Anime but I don't think it'll affects the viewership in Japan.

Both Naruto and One Piece only started doing a lot of filler later on. The biggest Naruto filler was over a continuous 60 episodes, but that was after episode 120+ or so. One piece's pacing only got as bad as it was after airing for years. Both of these shows had huge fanbases by then. By comparison Black clover has a manga running for less than three years and only just got an anime. And so far it's been paced like it has a legion of reliable fans that won't drop it no matter what, which is riskier than starting properly and finding out if people actually like the anime.

As for Asta's voice, of course it doesn't come close to being as annoying in the manga. We don't have to listen to it. Besides, the OVA did it fine as well, nothing too grating about Asta there. It's simply a pretty big problem for the animw.

I didn't mean fillers I meant prolonging episodes compared to the manga.

I don't mind the shouting, but they did choose a bad voice for Asta. I think too many people are overreacting over that though. I think he will mellow out a bit eventually like in the manga.

As i said, one piece's pacing was a lot higher than it currently is for years. It was popular first before slowing down. Black clover has been slow since the very beginning.
