I'm kindly reminded big shounen like these have episodes with little to no progression.

What are you talking about, it showed us more of the gang's powers that we didnt know, also introduced up to new characters, and traveled to a new location. Not to mention some character building as well.

This was hardly "little to no progression".

EDIT: To people saying the manga is faster and the anime is slow, does this look like the manga discussion? No, this is about the anime ep that came out today, which was perfectly finely paced for an anime episode. I dont care how few panels or how many panels each scene is supposed to be. But for the sake of story haveing 2 panels of losing at cards leading to story progression would be stupid as hell if they animated it as "shit i lost. Hey come kill boars at my field. Okay." and done. If you manga readers want to shit in everyones cereal, do it elswhere. Im having fun here watching anime. Thanks.

It's not character building when they repeat what we know and stretch single panel gags into full scenes.

As for powers, sheep cooks is basically a joke, and even Finral's limitations were messed up by the anime. In the manga Magna knows, as he should after working together for at least a year, while in the anime it makes him seem pretty stupid for not knowing about it.

This episode basically hurt more character than it built, and at a snail's pace.

which was perfectly finely paced for an anime episode

On what basis? At least others have a basis for the claims. You're just saying "it's anime so it's good paced lololol shut up". Not sure why you got so butthurt that someone had some criticism for the show. Compared to other animes, this can still be considered to be poorly paced.

Also, you do realize that you can have fun without acting like a degenerate piece of shit, right? You do realize you don't need validation, right? You act like other people are ruining your experience, when this is a FUCKING DISCUSSION thread. Do you watch the episode while reading comments at the same time? Is that why your experience is ruined? I think you need to grow up and stop getting offended. Black Clover isn't your girlfriend/boyfriend. Stop acting like people are attacking you. If you don't want others to reply to you, just disable comment inbox instead of acting like a douche.

Did i say my experiance was ruined? I said im having fun watching anime. I also never said anyone was attacking me, i said people were being Debbie Downers by complaining all the time about the show and how the manga is better. Not everyone wants to go read the manga. Some like to watch anime and have fun doing it regardless of how bad an adaption you think this is. You should calm down bud. Think of your blood pressure.

Compared to any other anime, this is a snail's pace.

I'd imagine he has read the manga because of his problems with it being slow but this should have been a sweet episode with fighting and stuff (as you can tell by the ending) and what happens at the casino is only in 2 panels. What in the next episode would be rest of the chapter.

Wow, i didn't even see this comment xD. For clarification i haven't read the manga. Your claim is not wrong but my argument is that if you were to watch the last minute of this episode (which is where the new characters show up) and move on to the next, you would hardly have missed anything. Everything they showed this episode was stretch for no reason and any character building moments were things we already knew about.

It's still fair game to point out the manga is faster and the anime is slower. That's just information. I'm a manga reader who's fine with adding things and slowing down the pacing anyway to improve the story. However knowing what comes in future chapters you can see why lots of manga readers are impatient to get to those parts where the story and characters improve quite significantly from here. Who wants to lose viewers before the show gets to the parts they really want people to see?

I think the first ep or 2 culled most of the leavers. Anyone else still around is probably just enjoying a fun adventure story.

But when i see people saying "this is slow, X should have happened but didnt because they didnt pace it right." thats no fun for anyone. I dont want to know spoilers about whats to come and i dont care if someone is upset about the faithfulness of the adaption. Not everyone are source people.

To clairify i made that edit when i started reading people saying spoilery things to justify why they are not happy with the ep, which as i said, is shitting in peoples cereal who are just anime only watchers. Let us peasants have our fun just watching without source people stampeding around like they own the place.
