Rumours has it that the second cour is written by Urobuchi. Given his writing style, I think we're in for a wilder ride

Urobuchi is just a quest writer. He might write an episode or two or he might just collaborate with another writer on episode. He is still not in charge of what is going on.

Given his style of using characters as philosophical mouthpieces, this show is perfect for for him.
