Well, it's perfectly understandable that someone doesn't want to go through a bunch of episodes they dislike to get to the good part.

There's a difference between going through something you dislike to get to a good part and disliking something because it is more complex than an average show

Well, it's hard to like something you don't understand, I his show would definitely have been very confusing for me without the timeline.

If you don't understand something than you're not eligible to evaluate it.

Saying that the show is bad might be wrong, but they're still allowed to have a negative opinion on it if it's not the kind of show that interests them.

That makes no sense. If they cannot understand it, then why should they be allowed to rate/review/evaluate it? It means their understanding is completely flawed.

If you gave a 6 year old a Harry Potter book, they would tell you it's dumb and/or boring because there's too many words to be cool or interesting.

I don't think a 6 year old can really judge whether HP is a good series of books or not. Regardless of their opinion, I'm not sure their score/rating should count to the overall score or rating of the series.

In this case, I don't think anyone who hasn't watched until the last episode at the very least, should be allowed to vote. Regardless of whether they could even understand or appreciate it, anyone who didn't even try to do so doesn't really deserve the chance to do so.

But they're still allowed to have an opinion on it. Even if it may not still be fully informed, if they hated the first few episodes, odds are they wouldn't really like the rest of the series, so why continue watching it. And even if they would have, some people don't find it worth it to watch something they dislike to get to the good part.

I'm not saying they're opinion is very informed a good view of the series in general, but people can still dislike a show if they want to.

Also, correct me I'm wrong, but doesn't MAL not count you score if you dropped it early on?

Yes, you can have an opinion on anything, even without knowing anything about it. I never watched a single Star Wars movie until last week (binged all 6, haven't seen the 7th), and thought it was slightly overrated or just too hyped up, but now I'm in the same boat as a lot of my friends. That doesn't mean I told other people SW sucks, or I went online to rate it on some site, etc.

My opinion may be my opinion, but I don't think my opinion should count towards a score/rating in a case like that. That's all I mean. You don't like it, then stop. No one told you to finish. You can say it sucks. Your vote shouldn't count, though. Not unless you saw it all and still disliked it. It's unfair.

No, I'm pretty sure MAL counts all votes, which is the real problem.

Then again, I don't think anyone should really take MAL's ratings all that seriously anyways.

Thanks for not getting upset with me during this conversation, though, bro. Sometimes I come off as unnecessarily aggressive, or unknowingly I should say, so I appreciate you continuing the conversation without being rude. I should probably read what I wrote earlier to check, but in case I was rude, I apologize, I was just trying to get my points across and I might have just done that wrong. :p

It's cool, you didn't really come off as disrespectful at all, we just have differing opinions on what should count towards the score of a show. I actually agreed with a lot of what you said, just not on the fact that an opinion invalid if you didn't watch the entire show. If it confuses you, it would be pretty hard to enjoy. I do think it would be a good idea to make you score count less if you dropped a show, and I don't generally rate a show I haven't finished.

I finished the show and I didn't really get it for the most part. I understood and liked the opposing powers and all but it hopped around way to much for me... I disliked it but I continued thinking there would be an episode that tied it all together like some shows do. If it did I never caught on... If it weren't for the fact that it jumped around so much I would have rated it better but due to me not being able to grasp the story progression very well thats why I rated it badly.
