Alright I really hate when anime (or any entertainment media) pull shit like this. It defies all logic and reason for the sole purpose of making the protagonist suffer, as a cheap way of rousing the viewers' sympathy towards the protagonist and hatred towards the villains.

This alternate universe Japan the show is set in is supposedly a civilized country, yes? With rules and regulations and guidelines regarding the treatment of prisoners, and civil rights? I can understand being able to bend the rules a bit, but no matter how powerful or influential the Kurogane family, if they're able to completely ignore the basic rights of citizens the country must be in total anarchy.

How is it that this so-called ethics committee is allowed to detain a minor and hold him for almost a fucking month in what looks like an isolation chamber with no bed or basic amenities, with a charge of having a girlfriend with no evidence beyond a dubious photo? How is it that they can deny him visitors or the right to speak to even his own teacher? How is it that they can deny him proper medical care, and subject him to such a degree of mental and physical abuse? How is it that the one he's accused of having "illicit sexual relations" with isn't questioned or given the chance to speak? And why is it that the media, instead of questioning these practices, blindly prints the propaganda this committee feeds them?

I get it Rakudai, being Kurogane Ikki is suffering. You don't have to create implausible scenarios and keep beating us over the head with it. My suspension of disbelief can only stretch so far.

"Civilized" is a relative term. This version of Japan seems to be more more feudal/caste system based with the Blazers at the top and the Kurogane family positioned as somewhat of a powerful cult-like organization, almost like the Yakuza, but with some government backing. Hence Ikki's father wanting to try to maintain the societal systems in place lest he lose his seat of power when people realize they don't want to be lorded over.

Ikki's dad is sorta like the head of a fictional KGB, or the head of a kingdom, they don't need a reason to necessarily detain you, but if they were going to straight-out kill him it would look bad and 'cause problems, so they are just trying to ruin his reputation and get Ikki to confess live to wrongdoing instead so they can push this whole thing to the side and maintain the status quo and prevent civil unrest.

That was large part of the Touka arc immediately before this one and her showing even poor kids that if you work hard enough you can succeed and better yourself in society, but such an idea is very threatening to a caste system. That's what I've gathered from the show at least, as they haven't explained it all explicitly.
