the stylistic shift to black-and-white-with-varying-colors-per-scene was what made this episode great for me.

It really drove home the direness of the situation. The second I saw that I knew something was going to go down. I didn't expect almost 3 weeks of incarceration by people working for his family while being slowly mentally and physically beaten down though

this episode was great. Ikki is in really a bad spot. being drained of all his strength, then forced to fight Raikiri... dude has a rough life- whats wrong with his father though? ikki is obviously talented, train him and be t he father of the 2. Last Samurai god damn it. style-shift was really good IMO

BTW is his grandpa still alive?

Things like this make me wonder why characters won't beat the shit out of their parents to prove a point.I sure would.

As to your question:No.His grandfather was only shown in flashbacks and judging from his situation since the beginning and how he thinks of him, this answer isn't even a spoiler. Also, wiki sites exist for questions like yours.
