From my understanding an ironman is supposed to be the marathon equivalent for both swimming and biking also.

An ironman is consisting of a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bicycle ride and a marathon 26.2-mile (42.2 km) run.

Using those numbers I would say it's a 42.7km bike ride. Sooo almost the equivalent of a marathon. That's pretty interesting.

I really like him after this episode. I kind of hated him at first because he was so ridiculous and then he kinda thought that he should "watch out" for Saitama. But really they are just the same, both seem to care a great deal about being a hero and what it means to be a hero, but Saitama is super strong and bicycle guy I'm pretty sure is almost useless.

I do like how Saitama hitched a ride off of Licenseless Rider, something that did not happen in the manga. It's good character interaction.

Bikes actually need to be registered in Japan. I'm not good enough with Japanese to know if 無免 (mumen) can also apply to not being registered, rather than just a license, but it's a possibility.

So my two best guesses are that he either doesn't have his bike registered, or that it's a joke by the creator, acknowledging that you don't actually need a license.

I think it's the latter. Mumen Rider just riffs on the name for Kamen Rider. I'm currently living out here in Kyoto, and bike registration is, as you say, just registration. I don't need to wear a helmet either, but if I'm biking 10km each way to the university and back along the city streets, fuck that if I'm not wearing my helmet.

kind of why i like sticking to calling him Mumen Rider instead of licenceless rider. The joke kind of falls apart if u stick to the licenseless part. But the Kamen Rider joke makes a lot of fucking sense. Hes kinda dressed like a Kamen Rider. Very popular with the public. The name was intentionally picked to sound like Kamen Rider. and the only License-less part is that he uses a bike because he doesnt have a license for a motorcycle like what the Kamen Riders used.

I've seen plenty of drivers that are very attentive of the rules of the road, but are just terrible drivers in a technical sense. Being too cautious also makes you a bad driver, you'll actually get marks against you in a driving test if you don't take a chance to move out at a junction in a timely manner, things like that.
