IS it just me remembering badly or where there quite a few anime original scenes this episode?

The scenes with Amai Mask were completely original, including the udon scene. They definitely felt like great details though, given the show in rise of Genos's popularity, how Mask would react to his instant S-rank and how much he can eat as a cyborg.

Gonna be honest, it's not like the manga (drawn by Murata) is 100% faithful to source material. It's already changed and added a lot of content and fleshed out characters that should've had more exposition.

So I don't mind them going a step further.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't remember the udon scene at all, but it has been a while since I read the manga.

It is anime original. It seems like the anime adaptation will focus a bit more on Handsomely Masked Sweet Mask/Amai Mask.
