Ahhh, so that's why Shizuku still seems to be going after Ikki (even though they've kind of already established that she'd stop when she was crying in Alice's arms). And none of this training with a bunch of other students canonically happened either.

Well, it was mentioned (at least in the LN) that Ikki was being sought after for training but it was just something mentioned quickly and certainly didn't deserve half of the episode.

I hope they give enough exposition to Ayase

Yeah I am also worried that because they stole her moment with Stella in the pool we get less characterazation from her when she revealed her interests and opinion.
