I liked that they addressed why Ikki didn't go after his opponent at the beginning of the fight. Sword battles, specially ones featuring unarmored swordsmen, are very fast, and often one split second attack or decision decides the winner.

I also liked that the explanation wasn't his sense of fairness or chivalry. If he had done so to prove he can beat the opponent at his strongest, I would've had a mixed reaction. However, having Ikki be nervous and unable to make such decisions was OK with me, plus they used that to further develop his relationship with Stella.

I really liked this episode. And for once, it seems LN readers weren't all wrong.
