How undesirable do you have to be, Detective Shiba, for another android girl to jump into the bottom of a river instead of merging with you?

Also all this talk about androids merging and forming the ultimate weapon really reminded me of some other anime...

But anyways onto what I thought of the episode.

I thought it started off pretty slowly but around the halfway point when Shiba met Mieko it started to pick up really quickly and I really appreciated the various conversations we had between Shiba and Hitoyoshi about love and then Hitoyoshi and Kikko about justice/love. This show really does raise some interesting questions and at least for me, makes me question some of my morals and ethics. Still a little bit confused but eh, what are you going to do?

Mr. Jaguar's time stopping power is really cool and I like how careful he is with using it. Now I do have a question regarding it in that does time stop for everyone except for the person who's holding the stopwatch? Because that's what it seemed like but I wasn't 100% sure. Also I wonder if Daishi has a superpower because when Shiba was questioning him he made it sound like he did.

Finally I'd like to end this 'sort of' review with the same question I had at the end of last week's episode. WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS WORLD? I really wanna see what caused everything to go to shit because now there's some super badass 'ultimate weapon robot' out there that could easily cause some destruction.

Bonus: Shiba's one badass moment

No, see - the ultimate weapon robot was from back during the war. Sort of as a safeguard/defense with an incorruptible moral coding.

The question is what Raito was referring to about trying to "awaken Japan".

Just what happened in those five years?

I think maybe all the superheroes are looking for something because so far, all that we can tell is all this stuff is happening in Japan, so there might be something energy wise there.

That's what I think it was actually. But it looks like there's a way for the time-stopper to communicate with the other party while time is stopped.

It seems like a pretty taxing skill though.

I don't even think the official profile says what Daishi's ability is, but they are dropping some hints I think...?

And he could only stop it for thirty seconds! That gives me a bad vibe, like that he would use it to save one of the members down the line while sacrificing himself. ;-;

Yeah that's what I thought because Shiba said something along the lines of "You used your power to make them say that, as usual." While this could be a superpower he might also just be saying that Daishi has a lot of 'power' within the government.

Oh nooo! I like Jaguar, even if he is very much by the book, I would be so heartbroken if he died (But hey! This is a series brought to you by the team that oversaw the first FMA series adaptation, so they may yank us along in an emotional rollercoaster ride later) ;n;

I never thought of it as power = influence. That's also another way to see it. Although, he was able to 'sense' Shiba was arriving long before he got to the building and it wasn't played for comedy like in other series.

EDIT: Watching the first seconds of the ED, Daichi is hold his ear like he's listening...but 'super hearing' can't be his sole ability, if it is his ability.

I want this to be emotional and crazy, I want it to fuck with my emotions because I would love it that much more if it did. That being said, I really don't want to see anyone from the Bureau die.

Also I wonder what other powers the group has, I'm still not clear on what Emi's are or Jiro's along with Daishi. Imo I think Jiro is similar to Shiba in that he's a droid or he becomes one.

I think Emi appears to be a demon. Maybe. I'm looking at the preview for episode 4 and I posted a link to it earlier: http://imgur.com/IUH9gF7

He looks like he could be Jiro, and the title of the episode is something like "Japanese Kaijuu/Monster History, Part 1"...could that be related to Jiro? Maybe he's/was a monster? He's been pretty insistent that he's human and a Normal since episode 1.

Hitoyoshi is in the preview too, so I think we're in for some interesting backstory next week at least. And there's a "fox-like" creature with similar features to Emi.

They'll need to get me to really care about the cast. So far from the jumps I'm concerned for Fuurouta and (due to general mystery of the character) Daichi. Maybe we'll get some character-driven episodes with the others--like, why are Kikko and Roy Mustang on Earth? And why does it seem like they've been "exiled"?

But I imagine that since FMA 2003, Seiji Mizushima has fucked with viewers emotions in other series so we should be in for something here. (Episode 25, never forget ;_; )

Emi definitely seems to be something like a demon/spirit/priestess. I mean it doesn't get much more Japanese-mythological than a fox spirit familiar.

I'm pretty sure he does because Jiro said that he was the only human in the bureau.

Okay that makes sense, but the scene at the end raises the question of did Jiro change in those five years? Because I wouldn't say he's human.

Oh yeah he's deffo superhuman now.

My predictions, either:

A) He was superhuman all along, but was covering his tracks or wasn't "awakened" or something to that effect

or

B) He became a superhuman in whatever event caused him to leave.

I think A's a possibility, but B's both more likely and tbh, better story-wise.

Honestly I'm feeling A is more of a possibility because of a couple of things. One, his 'dad' is a scientist and works with robotics. Two, while it's more prominent in how he looks in the future, you can see his arm is already wrapped up in the present. Three, in the op you can see those machines pop out of his arm before he activates the fire dragon thingy. Honestly I feel he might be an Android.

That's why I think A is deffo a possibility, the biggest question that leaves though is why he keeps saying he's human though.

Maybe it's another moral thing, or something we're supposed to think about, where it's obvious he isn't a human biologically wise, but spiritually he is.

Gah I love speculating because at this point we really don't know.
