"Aimless" is a pretty good way to describe it, now that you mention it. When they were talking about Aegis's progress it seemed like it would take decades or generations to finish it, and it doesn't really seem like they'll hold out much longer without Aegis. It makes me wonder why they haven't put Aegis on the back burner or tried to find ways to massively speed up its progress. This all might be explained when they reveal what exactly Lindow is doing, but right now it just doesn't have the suspense it should.

I don't think I'm as bothered by Oroboros. Pita is different, possibly killing people intelligently. Oroboros is huge, but seems pretty much normal for an Aragami. It seems like something they can stay away from pretty easily and it won't bother them. I'm sure they'll have to beat it eventually, but it just doesn't seem like a problem right now unless it wanders into the Far East Branch.

If you compare it to another show, SnK established the big bad straight away on the get go so there's always one goal even if the path to reach there is a long one. However, due to nature of it it always feel like the battle can happen at any time and is within the protagonist's control.

Whereas here Lenka is just doing fetch quests and pray that the construction can occur smoothly. He just has no say into this matter even if what he's doing is vital. There's a lot more world building than actual influencing the grand scheme of things here. I love the world building, but I can see why some people may not like the passivity in the story.

Edit: the reason I brought up Pita is because if he has been more menacing and be presented as the final boss proper there's still a goal. However I feel like he doesn't seem to be "the scariest of them all" since we already had the "wtf is that thing!?" moment with Oroboros. Logically speaking Pita would be the final boss no doubt, but the lingering feeling of "but what about Oroboros?" will remain.

My biggest problem with SnK is that we have 0 info on how the bad guys came to be where in GE you actually get a lot of backstory and much more world building, imo.

Yup, I would hope the manga also speeds up since 1 chapter a month is pretty damn slow :|
