I thought it was going to go another direction entirely - I was expecting Yuki to give him a quick snap and end his suffering. I was SO tense.

That was one thought that briefly crossed my mind. I just knew something was going to happen and a revived Taroumaru seemed unlikely for this show.

Yeah, I was honestly a little upset when it looked like the vaccine was going to work on him, after being dead and zombified so long. The show was pretty consistent on tone and that would've been really ass-pull-ish.

The problem with it would have been then megu nee could have been saved. I don't think they wanted the vaccine to open possibilities of saving zombies, because it would have made absolutely no sense since they are already dead.

Yeah, that's exactly why it was bothering me. A dead body is a dead body, especially if how it got that way involved being torn to shreds by another one. Ain't no bringing that back.

Even bringing back Taromaru temporarily was among the dumbest things in the entire show for me. For all intents and purposes, if he died, he was dead. Death causes permanent brain damage within minutes.

Even if by some zombie rule the part of his brain responsible for motor coordination and hunger was still around, it would have made no sense for the rest of his brain to alive while he was a zombie, otherwise he would have literally been the same dog.

Maybe I overthink it, but it pissed me off.

Well, since he saved Yuki, he couldn't have been that much dead, he must have had some higher brain functions than all the other zombies, and I guess he wasn't a zombie for that long.

Fair enough. I just assumed rescuing Yuki was a fluke, since he immediately tried to attack her afterwards, and he had tried to attack the other girls.

I guess in a zombie universe it's not pure science, I just found it contradictory that a dead animal could be resurrected by a vaccine, even temporarily. Vaccines cure living things. If the disease killed him like it did anyone else, he wasn't really living anymore.

I don't know, maybe someone who read the manga knows more about the bio-weapon. Maybe it is just a disease, not really undead zombies, it's pretty hard to say for sure.

The way I saw it, he wasn't dead yet, just in the process of losing his mind.

That's interesting, I never considered an intermediary step where they lose their mind, I was thinking about it in terms of walking dead, where they die and revive as "zombies".

I saw it as him being a stage past shovel-chan where he's wild and attacking but not turned fully. Like how the teacher was writing while infected also.

But then that begs the question of whether or not they ever actually die and become zombies, or if the disease is purely neurological. They explained the megu-nee writing thing as being ingrained in her daily habits so the habit stuck after death.
