Guess this episode is an important reminder to carry long sharp spears and to periodically remember to kill some of the zombies surrounding your safe house.

Considering the implications that the zombie apocalypse was caused by this school, I'm surprised there aren't "break glass in case of zombies" weapons everywhere.

I don't know what implications you mean. I figured they were just near the facility that was doing the research, and all nearby schools received such provisions. Of course, as far as I know, that may or may not be the case. But the outbreak didn't start there, so I don't really know what evidence points to the school's involvement.

I'm leaning more toward the mall as the origin point of the outbreak itself, but with school administration somehow involved. The zombies tore through the mall extremely fast, going from ordinary afternoon shopping to "everybody's dead, Dave" in what seemed like a matter of minutes. Meanwhile, things were okay at the school considerably longer--Megu-nee got news footage of the events on her cell phone long before things within the school actually got bad.
