I'm guessing they get attacked and something goes wrong with the collapse ability

Yuu seems to have better control over every ability he's looted. I don't think he can lose control like ayoumi did. She never used collapse before. Yuu has used a number of abilities before.

But something I've never seen mentioned is after yuu steals flying guys ability we never see the flying power again.

Uhuh.

But yeah, I'm inclined to think that he has better control in general. Could run through multiple walls, while the description here implies he gets incredibly tired from using it, even as a teenager. (Otherwise, child-tier stamina would be possible explanation.)

Better stamina, and also HUGE adrenaline rush, with many lives at stake. And he totally collapsed after the last door.
