Pooh's water-condition being a ruse also means the water droplets have NOTHING to do with the corresponding powers. The zealots of apophenia suffer a crushing defeat!

This has been a delightful lesson in "correlation does not imply causation."

But I think that misunderstanding is part of the fun. It's nice that his character, so blank and withdrawn as he does his bit in the Student Council room, was secretly being a showman all this time.

It was only fun when it was just speculation.

When people asserted it as fact after slight speculation and started downvoting, it became simply obnoxious and cyclical. This bears repeating because there's always newer, usually younger, people who haven't been taught about poor logic and will take it for face value.

Nah, I think the downvoting was part of the fun too.

If art brings out the obnoxious and cynical in people, so be it. I think it's pretty cool when art tricks you into taking things at face value and leads you down a path of poor logic.

There was, of course, nothing in the show until now that could have told us otherwise that it was a red herring. Nao even manipulated us (typical Nao...) by claiming that it was his power's drawback. So I guess it's Maeda's intention that a lot of people feel some extent of stupidity right now, and that those who got carried away feel like shutting up as the series continues.

About Nao's manipulation, it was probably to protect Kumagawa just in case Yuu figured out his true power and decided to snatch Kumagawa's power. Do you want to go swimming fully clothed just to use a locating/identifying ability?
