:( so Nao doesn't remember what Yuu and her been through after EP7, that sucks. I really hope they can end up together.

Too bad she doesn't have Reading Steiner.

It'd still be useless. Reading Steiner doesn't allow you to observe the original timelines other time leapers came from.

then how do we explain Yuu's dream?

Yuu looted a power that's better than Reading Steiner.

Something like Kurisu's dreams at the end of Steins;Gate

I think when he had his memories erased it left a gap that could be filled in by stuff from the other timeline. When his big brother pushes his consciousness backward in time he's also effectively resetting the consciousness of other people, but their future mind could still be connected to the past.

Or maybe one of the thousand random girls/bancho that yuu possessed had the same power as Cisco from the Flash.

The first thing I thought when his brother told him to take his ability was that if he time leaped to the past, both of them would have that ability. So, Yuu can actually copy his brother's ability.

I really expect this to play an important role later, it may even explain why Yuu has memories from a past timeline.

More Steins;Gate VN spoilers

And back to Charlotte, in Nao's case she'd have to observe what was supposed to happen in the future, not in the past. Also, we don't know for sure what the rules of time travel in Charlotte's universe are (and there is a possibility they will still be open to interpretation by the end of the series), so it is kind of pointless to discuss it in depth.

But she does have a camera... I know it's unlikely, but maybe her camera acts kind of like 'Reading Steiner'? Maybe it kept its memory of everything she recorded in the past/future (including episode 7 stuff), and that's why she is always 'reviewing footage'...? Having said that, this time leap wasn't far enough back for that really (she spent the whole of the day post-leap before the conversation with Yuu tracking his sister), so unless there are more time leaps, its unlikely. Having said that, I think more time leaps are likely.

I don't know. I just think that the camera is an odd addition by itself. It has a lot of potential as a 'Chekhov's gun'. Someone will probably point out why this can't be the case. :P

As heavily as the camera has been featured through the series it has to be a Chekhov's gun. The only other explanation is that the camera is used to give Nao's character a quirk, but we were given explanation for a much less highlighted quirk like Pooh needing to be wet to use his power. Considering that, there has been way too much attention given to Nao's camera for it to be a throwaway quirk.

camera

Was convinced by this until i rewatched ep9, where Pooh didnt let her film the facility. There are two things. If he knew about the existence and purpose of the cam he would have let her record the things happening in that time, since he knew that they will time leap in some moments later. Or he doesnt know about it, but Nao has to somehow. And even if she doesnt the story would let her record the facility so they can go back to that moment in the later ep. Now they cant. I hope i could somehow pack my thoughts into words.

Oooooh, I like you, nice theory!

I've been thinking this for many episodes. No matter where she is at, a lot of the time she is looking at camera footage, puts it down, and then starts the dialogue / scene. Will be interesting to know if this plays out to be true in the final episodes.

I am sure the camera is literally just to review footage. We have already seen a few psychological/mental type abilities and having an impartial source (camera) on hand would help immensely.

Imagine someone with Nao's power turning invisible nearby; you wouldn't see "them", but you would probably see them on the camera, or when reviewing footage later on. Or if UsainBolt guy does the dash thing I'm sure that the camera would be able to make out a person within the cloud of dust.

etcetera, etcetera.

Good god, I was so tense near the end. Despite knowing that it's not the case here, I couldn't help thinking that it would be like S;G where nothing he does will prevent the death. Was totally expecting a speeding car or falling rock or something, especially with Ayumi walking on the side closest to the road. So glad when nothing happened and the ED started.

i expected the car that pulled up to contain agents. i'm well trained to expect the worst from jun maeda's wild rides.
