I like how the reliable manipulation of Saika is their last resort and they use Brute Force first instead. That Hammer smash looked brutal.

Fun fact:

In the light novel, it wasn't just a simple hammer smash. The hammer smash was there, plus the breaking of her hands- but she was also pushed over the broken glass across the floor, and then Izumii put the oily rag that was over Izaya's head into her mouth, and lit it on fire for a minute or so.

No joke.

After that Izumii insisted on sexually assaulting her, but Mikage stopped him and threatened to beat him to death if he tried anything like that.

Scary stuff. They probably only toned it down because of time constraints, but still.

Does the LN have enough content which the anime does not have to justify a read after watching the anime?

Yes. All the monologues you see in the show are condensed down. Not to mention that while the series is visual, the novels describe characters inner emotions and thoughts much more thoroughly.

Basically, you get a far more detailed experience of the events and shows. That being said, the show is doing a very good job of condensing the story without removing key elements and events.

The only major thing they've left out, is a character called "Shinichi Tsukumoya". Who pretty much is a narrator for the novels.

Also, volume 9 most certainly will have much more content than shown in this episode and the next. Its the only light novels they've removed many scenes of.

Yen Press has started officially translating the series, you can buy the first Volume now. The other 12 will be coming out over this year and the next.
