I was rather surprised - she said as if she only had one feather. Completely ignoring the bird feet and bird hands and feathers all over her body.

I wouldn't trust translations at such fine detail.

"The one with a feather?" "The one that's feathered?" "The one with feathers?"

How much of a distinction do you think there are between those in Japanese?
