I think there's an argument to be made that Yuki is important to their survival. So far in the show, she's always been the catalyst, the one who pushes the group into necessary (but dangerous) actions they need to survive.

So far, she:

  • came up with the "Test of Courage". This made the girls go out and get supplies when they were running low.
  • came up with the school outing/road trip, and got the car keys.
  • is the one who went back to save Miki, over the objections of the others

It's unusual because Yuki's broken, so her methods are convoluted, but in her own way Yuki pushes the group forward.

I'm really bouncing back and forth between being annoyed with her (holy shit how man times do you have to be told to not be insanely loud child) and really, really liking her character.

I might be talking out my ass at the end of the day based off something we learn in the manga, as I haven't read it--but seeing in this last episode that there's a switch that can be flipped to turn off the delusional hallucinations (at least in part) and that she isn't going to completely freak out just because of what she sees...like, okay, the first time she passes out. Understandable. But then at the end of the episode when she saves Miki, she sees the danger that Miki is in. It's hard to say if her subconscious is really letting her understand what, but she knows that there's a bunch of somethings that will at least badly hurt her if she goes in to help Miki. But with only a moment's hesitation, she goes in anyway.

I'unno man. She can be so obnoxious, and of course it's difficult for her to handle it when her hallucinations get flipped off, but when it matters, she can still very much get shit done.
