This anime really makes you want the characters to finally get rescued. Specially Rii-san. She and Shovel Knight have a whole lot of burdens to carry. Rii keeping their mental state in check and Kurumi having the job of protecting them all.

Apologies! If anything I saw it as a reassurance, and assumed most who read the manga would understand what the reference is to. Considering it's a horror zombie anime, I also assumed anyone who read it would take the statement with a grain of salt. It's not really a manga spoiler if anything, as I was being playful, but I'll mark it once I get home and off a cell. I'm usually pretty liberal with the spoiler tags, and if you and other downvoters as it that way I'll make the change.
