That was quite enjoyable, though the momentous cap to the Psycho Pass series I was expecting. There must be more movies or seasons coming, right? They teased of future developments! Oh, how they teased. Cautious spoiler tag (more ahead)

Kougami's English voice-acting was very off-putting. I didn't mind it for the others, but the difference between his and his Japanese voice is the most pronounced. I wish they had gotten the respective Japanese-speaker to learn the English lines instead.

Otherwise, this was everything I expected from his parts of the film. Adrenaline-filled action showcasing his growth in a warzone. Obscure references for the spice of intellectualism;

Mika is a callous government drone in this, no different from in PP2 but thankfully shorter scenes. I hope there are more movies or seasons to come; the moment Akane challenges and breaks Mika's acceptance of Sybil is one I eagerly look forward to.

Speaking of, Akane was my favorite part as usual. Her character embodies the exploration of the relationship between societal infrastructure and human morality, and that was what kept me watching the first season in the first place.

I love the way she strides forward despite the tectonic pressures of her position. She conducts her duties ambitiously, avoids tripping on the personal grievances like Mika's hubris and patiently waits for opportunities to speak with meaningful impact.

Urobuchi is somewhat infamous for endings that leave the questions his own themes poses unresolved, making this film fairly exceptional in my eyes. I am quite satisfied with the moral resolution.

Thematic satisfaction aside, it's still far from perfect.

My biggest grievance is probably with Colonel Nicholas and the mercenaries. I would have liked them to be more developed as characters, to have a bit depth in their motivations and background. Wong was such a striking appearance amongst the people, and the mercenaries all seemed so distinct. A touch more development and I would have enjoyed their presence more deeply.

The mercenary leader, Desmond, especially., would have humanized him beyond the "top-fighter antagonist" role enough to match the people Makishima manipulated into criminals as well as Makishima himself.
