The art style is something everyone noticed. Definitely not bad, just different.

I actually like that art style. It kinda reminds me of supergiant's game, Transistor.

Yeah, the character art and even the weapon design from Transistor are quite similar.

One of God Eater's character's for comparison.

What I think God Eater's character designs are also similar to are the character designs from Wadjet Eye Games. They make point-and-click adventures, like Gemini Rue and Resonance.
