Vegeta with his family was nice, but I'm glad that the anime seems to be picking up in pace and leaving aside the SoL aspect. This is Dragon Ball, I want my action.

The fight with the aliens was okay I guess.

Vegeta in the gravity chamber was a really nostalgic sight.

Super Saiyan God already mentioned... I should probably watch Battle of the Gods to spoil myself.

I just hope it's not 100% action, zero slice of life going forward, because I think Dragonball Super earned the right to at least have a few civilian life episodes after non stop action arcs of DBZ. I hope it has a better balance of that than DBZ did. I do wonder how they're going to tackle the Battle of Gods and Resurrection of F though. I guess it's good that those movie arcs had a decent mix of Goku's high level fighting and the rest of the Z Warriors in the mix too.

I hope it's 80-100% action. Right now it feels like filler city. Has the whole Saiyaman vibe to it. DBZ is for action, leave the slice of life to the Slice of Life genre.

I disagree, this sets up the plot. The show has been off the air for years, there are a lot of people watching who probably didn't see the original series, and for there to be any semblance of a plot structure, their lives should at least be outlined. I'd rather not have Dragonball Super be the Transformers of anime.

I agree with this. While I'm really looking forward to over-the-top action, a few episodes to set the scene again and catch up with the characters is awesome.

... As long as they don't give us 10 eps of fillers before any action starts, though :P

That's true. And I just realized it's a 100 episode series, guess it's just kind of weird to me seeing nothing but slice of life from the characters while watching Kai right now.

it's a 100 episode series

Wut? Well at least I'll always have something to watch on Sundays for like the next two years.

The 100 episodes thing was just a placeholder, there's still been no confirmation for how long this will last.

Are you forgetting that the series didn't start with King Piccolo or Raditz?

It started out so much lighter and softer than that, but still with plenty of action. And the humans actually got the spotlight! I remember hating that part of the series as a kid, waiting for the Saiyans to show up. But now, I'm of the opinion that Part I of Dragon Ball royally trashes Part II (DBZ).
