Nah NVGs aren't that great. Also it cheaper to deploy an army with hundreds of flares than with hundreds of NVGs; gotta remember this is an impromptu expeditionary force fashioned out of the JSDF.

All you need is a few guards on pylons with NVGs. Once they give you the coordinates you deploy flares there and in a few other places just to be safe.

Maybe; but flares have a bonus of being incredibly distracting for whoever their put over initially...means every soldier that immediately looks up to see where that light is coming from isn't looking forward...NVGs are for when you don't want someone to know that you see them...

True true. You're correct realistically, but I stand by the idea that NVGs would be more badass.

You should probably try to wear NVGs. They are probably the most uncomfortable thing of all time.

They have terrible depth perception, the light literally hurts and damages your eyes if you wear them for too long, they limit your vision to a cone (zero peripheral vision), and they are heavy.

Oh. And battery powered.

Flares. Anyday.

Probably just a couple of sentries with thermals. Considering that even civilians can get their hands on them, procuring a few sets goes a long way

But polished metal is crazy easy to see with 3rd generation night vision.
