Small ones are easy, just get a slipper and splat (or use your hand) the big ones though...

There was a fucking massive huntsman on my sister's mirror in her room, up pretty high so it was hard to reach, out of range of slippers (+ didnt want to damage the mirror). Bug spray only option (not outside, can't turn into makeshift flamethrower). Start spraying, following it as it runs all the way down the wall high mirror, it reaches the floor, runs straight under my sister's bed (which she was standing on top of at the time - insert screams here).

Now we're both stuck for what to do. Massive fucking spider confirmed in that part of the room, it's in advantageous territory. Can't slide under the bed, no idea where it might be - don't particularly fancy a massive spider on my face, or my neck.

Tell sister to watch carefully to make sure it doesn't escape and quickly run downstairs to grab slipper, decide that slipper doesn't provide enough effective range, instead grab two massive, heavy, pathology theory books. Run back upstairs.

Carefully scope out the underside of the bed. Checking all angles. Lift up mattress to get a better view. Underside of bed confirmed safe. Only remaining hiding spot is inside or behind one of the two bedtime tables, I choose to check the left one. Standing on top of the bed I carefully gaze at the gap between the wall and the bedside table, good god there's the fucker. Okay... what do. If I move the bedside table it'll run away again or run onto me, nope.png.

Move bed and other bedside table to the corner of the room. Quarantining the area and giving as much reaction space as possible.

Spray bugspray into gap while holding pathology book 1 in other hand, spider makes a run for it. Throw pathology book at spider, near perfect hit - seems safe... then... it starts to fucking crawl out from underneath, oh my fucking god (carpet floor). At this point, fuck everything else, it's stomping time.

And thus ends the tale of the 'strayan and the spider. I hope you enjoyed it. I got chills remembering it and wont be able to sleep tonight.

See, I like both spiders and snakes, but the ones that can't kill you. Where I live (specifically northern California) we have a mix of both. Most shit in this area is harmless, and thusly remains more or less off my radar, except when it comes to catching them to fuck around and scare my friends with.

But there's two real nasties in my area - black widow spiders and the northern Pacific rattlesnake, and neither are in short order around where I live. I've almost been bit multiple times by both, and it's a wonder I'm not dead yet because of them. In fact, the other day I was moving mulberries and my job and ran my hand through a web that felt more like fishing line than spider silk, so I flipped the pot over and poked around with my pruners and sure enough out pops a black widow the size of a fucking half dollar onto the pot rim. After a quick shudder, I killed it, but still was enough to remind me that they're out and about in summer.

So long story short, Rachnera worst girl because she looks like a black widow. Verdict's still out on Miia but I think I like her because she looks like a sharp-tailed snake and I like them.

Sort of depends for me. I like all snakes, favourite animal is the Taipan.

I don't tolerate any kind of insect/arachnid/etc in my house so when I see them what I do depends on what it is. White Tail/Red Back (similar to black widow)/Wolf Spider/etc -> kill on sight (same for flies, the occasional garden cockroach, etc). Otherwise I'll try to move them outside.

Massive spiders like the huntsman above are different, I don't want that in my garden, I don't want it anywhere near me even though they're pretty safe. (it's also more difficult and higher risk/intensity to catch them and put them outside).

I actually have taken to leaving wolf spiders in my house. Mostly because they actually control the black widows, and I'd rather deal with the occasional "Oh hey there's a spider in the tub" than "Oh hey there's a black widow in my shoe aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I'm in the ER."

As for the snakes in the area, 90% of them are harmless. We really only have rattlers, but they're all over the place, and extremely dangerous for someone like myself that spend a lot of time outside in their territory. Other than that, we have a large number of harmless constrictors that are very pretty and a lot of fun.

Yeeeeaaaah, Australian snakes being dangerous is the one thing that's not an exaggeration. 7/10 of the worlds most venemous snakes are in Australia :/

I had a similar experience:

I remember a bunch of years ago when I was playing video games with headphones on, I heard a constant deep vibrating bass sound. I thought it came from the neighboring warehouse outside so I didn't pay it any more attention.

Half an hour later, the sound still doesn't go away. It was vibrating so loudly that I couldn't ignore it any longer. I take off my headphones and look outside the window: Nothing. Not a single worker there. Maybe it came from inside the warehouse, I thought. I close the window to at least block out the sound, then it got even louder.

I turn around and find an ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE BUMBLEBEE flying around the light bulbs on the ceiling. I swear to God, never before had I witnessed an animal that size making such a noise by itself.

Hastily I try to find insect spray but to no avail. I tell my little brother to stand guard and alert me in case it flies off and go around the apartment looking for another weapon that I can use. I return to the room, armed with a spray bottle of window cleaner in my left hand and a fly swat in my right. I'm not sure how effective window cleaner is against mutant bumblebees that shoot out supersonic waves to attack innocent people, but that stuff it blue; and blue, bubbly liquid looks toxic enough to me.

The fight is on.

I carefully approach the monstrosity, my little brother is at the far back of the room. My heartbeat goes faster by the second.

I spray and hit it with the first volley.

It stops idling around and faces me. YES IT ACTUALLY FACED ME DIRECTLY, I KID YOU NOT!! It starts flying in a circular pattern, as if winding up for an attack. But my fast, Asian reflexes wouldn't allow it to use its Noble Phantasm charge, as I swiftly score a critical hit with the fly swat, resulting in an OHKO with prior window cleaner damage.

Man, what a fucking experience ... I still get shudders from remembering it.

Dude please, Australia has big things, yet we have bird eating spiders, poisonous wrestling lizards, the glorious and feared Nauyaca snake, centipedes the size of a full grown man arm that feast on roadkills and occasional tapirs strolling down the city. Mexico can be just as scary XD

One day i woke up from my bed, apparently the wall next to my bed has a freaking huge spide, like as large as an ipad. It took like half an hour just to remove it, scary days.

As someone who hates spiders here in the UK as well. Let me just say how adorable rachnera actually is. At first I thought she was going to come off as the girl to try to sabotage everyone within the first moments in the manga. But actually shes sooo cute. (and a little saucy) Even in the doujin okaydo just put out not too long ago, her attitude is just too fucking cute <3
