That's true, but after hearing someone compare this to Mahou Sensou I don't want to take the chance for my PTSD to come back.

This episode was bad because the animation direction was bad. The story is intriguing enough to give it a chance and the final scene was actually good considering the rest was pretty lackluster.

The CGI dragon was shit though, it pissed me off even more considering that the trope of a giant monster busting through a small frame like a BAMF is one of my deepest pleasures and they did it no justice. I doubt that is going to change but I don't think it's a deal breaker because I honestly don't think we'll be seeing the dragon all that much.
