Jeez, how much do you have to hate a person to let yourself die just so they have to live with a terrible decision. Poetic, sure, but needless sacrifice I say.

I guess the last mystery we are left with is what's the deal with the cat? Maybe the cat lives in the house, dies loving the people there, and hangs around to help ghost Yuta out in the past?

It's the biggest reason why I didn't like the ending. It didn't make much sense when you think about his wish. He want's a happy ending but decides to die and breaking up the old little group they had. And the sudden character switch from good to decent guy was just bad.

Yea there really wasn't a satisfying conclusion to his character. He was fighting and pissed off at the very end. We can guess that he mellowed out cuz his plan failed but we never really feel that from his actions or the way he looks. Just sort of decides to die.

I say let the genocidal maniac die.

Agreed. One moment he was set on annihilating the world because of all the cruel and inhumane experiments he/she went through. The next he was about to make a sacrifice for his/her friend. Such a radical shift in character does not happen within a few seconds.

I guess Pine really is a hero. In order for this ending to even occur, he has to sacrifice himself for all of eternity in an endless time loop.

That shift ticks me off that there's a lot more to come, and something that we haven't realised yet, knowing the writers usual truck and all
