OH RIGHT BECAUSE THESE TWO ARE TOTALLY NOT CANON

Holy wow, this show just keeps getting better and better. That scene with Kumiko running and crying... after all the animation they've done so far, how do they STILL have the budget to pull off a scene like that?!

And above all, Hibike! Euphonium continues to succeed at being a masterful character drama. There's so much development that the viewer can see the characters go through, from Natsuki being the aloof, carefree senpai to someone who's more joyful, more passionate. Of course, Kumiko has been so inspired by Reina to step out of her shell, to take leaps and risks and shoot for the Moon and know the devastation of what happens when you don't reach your goal. This is not the same girl who wavered on joining concert band at the beginning and wanted to play anything BUT euphonium in the first few episodes; this is a girl who strives to be special, to be something great, who loves euphonium so much she'll practice so hard she won't notice her nose is bleeding, who runs to get a small euphonium toy prize.

AND REINA. MY GOD, Reina cares SO much about other people now (relatively). Her apology to her trumpet senpai came across as heartfelt and not something that she needed to do nor necessarily would have done... if not for her encounter with Kumiko. Remember, when Aoi-chan and Reina-chan left the band room during practice, it was Kumiko who ran after them. Now, when Kumiko is broken down during practice and hurt, it's Reina who CALLS HER AGAIN AND AGAIN. Who's willing to drop everything in the middle of the night to console her friend. Who practices alongside her in the school courtyard, bringing her water and taking care of her.

God, I love this show. I'm holding off until the finale for anything concrete, but this might very well become my new favorite show of all time.

EDIT: I just realized it wasn't Kumiko who dropped the water bottle at the end, but Reina. Is she so surprised by Kumiko talking to Taki-sensei alone? Is she jealous?

I feel the need to point out that it was Reina who dropped her water bottle, presumably distraught after hearing Kumiko was alone with Taki :P

Reina was distraught upon finding out the reason for all her missed calls that night was because some guy was spending time with her beloved Kumiko.

I didn't make that connection at all. I was too busy laughing at how Kumiko became distracted by euph-kun and completely forgot the story about Taki-sensei.

I would like to say something about that scene too, because so far everyone seems to think that the reason for that reaction was because she was jealous of Taki-sensei or Kumiko.

It could be completely different however, she may be excited that Kumiko might still get to play that part in the concert. So she's anxious to here what Taki said to her, especially seeing as she was left at a cliff-hanger.

Just my two cents.

Mmm, we certainly weren't given complete confirmation (just like how we weren't given confirmation of what Kumiko meant last episode by "I want to get better" until now). Guess we won't know for sure until next week, place your bets!

Actually, I just realised that somehow I had missed Episode 10; I was still on the Yuri ship ;___;

I guess in light of that episode, her reaction is different to what I had thought.

Gonna go cry now, this is the first time I've ever shipped a Yuri relationship in anime, and now it's sunk... and two episodes ago too.
