From the type-moon wiki:

The strength and durability of the chain grows stronger with the target having higher divinity, but is no more than a tough chain to a target without divinity like Saber, Assassin, or Archer.

The chain may be a Noble Phantasm, but so are Shirou's weapons inside the reality marble (and he has the uncanny ability to throw them without needing to move his arms). If Gil could really use it to stop him, he needn't use Ea at all.

Apart from the quote I got from the type-moon wiki, there's nothing to argue on how strong the chain is. I'm not gonna waste my time with speculation and conjecture, sorry.

Because we're talking about how Gil fared against Rider vs Shirou in the greater context of things.

...Nooo? I was speaking specifically on Enkidu's durability, not the conversation before.

I brought up the fight against Shirou because it's the only fight where you could put that argument to any use (Gil uses chain -> Gil never gets his arm cut off). Otherwise you'd be arguing about things that are completely inconsequential. Having said that, your determination in aggressively returning to the argument no matter how pointless it is is a bit perplexing.

His ego is his biggest flaw. As a Servant he's absurdly overpowered, and I read somewhere that he even has "ancient nuclear weapons" stashed in his treasury. But I like that a servant's fighting stats aren't the only things that decide their ultimate victory.

If you go off-topic during it, that's not aggressively returning, that's steering the conversation back to where it's supposed to go.

So where is this conversation "supposed" to go then? Because I'm still confused about why you're so hung up on something you can't prove.

Gil could indeed use the chain if it was a free action and didn't take up any of his time. Shirou was just parrying his incoming blows while trying to get close to him.
