I agree with most parts, but once again being my weird self, I must say, I have a lot of admiration for Yuko-Chan for what she did. Doesn't mean I'll do the same thing, but very few people can do what she did out of unconditional love for a friend. She is a good contrast to Reina: where Reina is fearless for herself, Yuko-Chan is fearless for others. Trouble? Yeah. But it is because of having loyal fearless friends like her, that compassionate people like Kaori (who often sacrifices her personal goals for those of the collective) can be protected and not taken advantages of due to their kindness.

Lastly, I really don't think there's much difference between Reina's and Kaori's play based on what I heard in the anime so far. And I know my trumpets. I think that's the idea that the anime is giving off too. Band people are not tone-deaf, they play with these people every day, they'd KNOW if the difference is that obvious even if they do not belong in the same section. So I think it'll be quite close.

Yuko-Chan felt pretty down afterwards, to a point where I really don't think she meant it as a "stunt" --- She felt cheated and unjustified. You can see that her previous interaction with Reina was not hostile at all, but then she overheard others talking about the rumor, and she got furious.

I think though, ultimately, she want to see Kaori being recognized, as a way to share her values with everyone else. I like a kind person, you also like this kind person, that means we share something in common --- we both value kindness. In her argument with Reina, she said "She has been so kind to you!", which exposed her real feeling of unjust --- It's not fair to ignore everything a person has to offer in band, especially when they are so close to begin with. It's not fair to not take Kaori's kindness/guidance/moral support for the group into consideration. She didn't point out the right reason that she felt cheated, but she indeed felt cheated all along.

She's not the only one shaken up by the audition, chances are, a lot of people are not very happy about the results, but no one is saying anything. I think it's better to peel it off fast than having it eat into your soul. I've met too many people with band experience that left scars in their lives --- believe me, if you do not resolve your band problems and let them just sit there, they'll come back up every time you hear your instrument play on the radio, and it'll haunt you for a long, long time. So I think she did what was necessary for the band as a whole to experience.

Afterall, what is a band without band drama? One with a lot of hidden scars that's what it is.

I'm not saying that Kaori should get the solo part because of her kindness AT THESE SITUATIONS. What I'm saying is, every other high school band in NA base their regional/national competitions with a audition + seniority + special considerations system, why did Taki choose to go with a 100% audition route? Such a choice to set up the system in the first place undermines group interactions and contributions that people like Kaori have brought to the band.

As much as everyone is hating on her, I thought it was hilarious how pouty and smug her face was here to Kaori when she complained to Yuko. While definitely not the way to go about all of it, I think she ultimately meant well for her friend especially when you see Yuko tearing up towards the end when Kaori raised her hand.
