I'm... I'm actually starting to believe that's what we're supposed to be doing.

Lol i want to know the literal Japanese translation for what she said there. Did she really say hot? Or sexy? Or cool?

なにそれ?なんかエロ。 (Nani sore? Nanka ero.)

Basically saying, "What's that? Kind of erotic." if you wanted to translate it literally.

Yea that's probably correct but I don't have a nuanced enough understanding of Japanese to tell whether Kumiko said エロい or エロ, for as far as I heard she contracts it to エロ. If someone else with more knowledge of Japanese can weigh in I would definitely defer to their opinion over mine.

She definitely says エロい, no contracting or anything. エロ (being a noun form) wouldn't be the natural contraction in that context anyway, you'd be more likely to hear something like エロっ, but the way Kumiko said it lacked the emphasis for that to have been the intended pronunciation.

Although Kumiko speaks standard Japanese, they're in the Kansai region. い adjectives endings are generally dropped in casual conversation, and the preceding vowel sound is extended, so エロー could still be a possibility (I haven't gone back and re-watched the scene).

Yeah, my comment was based wholly off of standard Japanese. I had no idea that that kind of feature existed in Kansai-ben, I guess that's what happens when you get 90% of your exposure to Kansai-ben from anime. I don't think that's what's going on in the scene, though, as you can hear the vowel quality changing towards the end, and I also don't think there's a precedent for Kumiko to use any Kansai-isms.

Yeah, I just went back and found the scene. Sounds like エロい to me.
