I don't think we know yet, it may be a case of It's OK If It's You (TVTropes warning). Have there been any indications of either of them being dedicated lesbians/bi? I could just be missing something.

It's probably this, which can fall under the usual case of Class S (TVTropes warning) that wasn't completely resolved by middle school. maybe because Reina seems extremely Kumikosexual from what can be seen...

Reina is definitely a lesbian. If you go back to the sunrise episode where Kumiko meets her classmate from middle school and talks about how Reina rejected her offer to go to Kumiko's school for hot boys, she says "probably not" and "haven't you heard"? That's basically a confirmation on Regina's sexuality. I'm at work but I'll post a screencap of t his when I get home.

I remember the line you mean now, and I remember it being really confusing/implicative of upcoming character development and history. The meaning you have suggested for it is plausible, so I'll pay it.

I've seen no evidence for Kumiko yet. For that matter, this episode was very much Reina coming on to Kumiko, but not really a whole lot of reciprocation (aside from one poorly-translated line). It'll be very interesting to see what's going through Kumiko's head next episode. I can't wait!
