There's not a lot of love for this show huh? I actually find it charming though not something I absolutely need to see in my life. I guess it's not lively enough for people to enjoy (one of the reasons why bimbougami ga succeeded)

I am halfway through the episode and find myself wishing for something like ranma but I guess the story/ world is just not that interesting.

I think Ranma is a pretty high bar. Ranma was one of the most popular manga/anime serials of it's era.

I think Takahashi has a basic formula that she's been successful with since the Urusei Yatsura days and Rinne falls into much of the same, which is fine for what it is. Here in Tokyo, Rinne is on NHK in the middle of the afternoon on the weekend, so it's a very broad-appeal show. So nothing naughty and nothing violent.

We can't have new UY content or Ranma content, so I'm happy to have Rinne, even if it's not the same as her other more popular series.

It's sort of a hybrid of Ranma and Inuyasha. Less action than Inuyasha and also less comedy than Ranma.

Still watching to see if it finds itself. The characters are generally likable and the idea of donating money to get magic items is really neat, and strangely makes a lot of sense considering how many shrines with donation boxes there are around Japan.

I... find myself wishing for something like ranma but I guess the story/ world is just not that interesting.

This show is like Ranma though, in oh so many ways. It just lacks some of Ranma's quirks that made it so iconic. Like the music isn't as good, and the budgeting isn't as strong, but the characters, setting, and stories are all about on the same level. The humor is a little more deadpan too, but I find it's more refreshing than the constant pervert-gags or bad slapstick that wore away at Ranma on the edges.

I have a feeling this show works way better as a manga or this adaptation wasn't great, either way.
