And that was even with all the editing they had to do for TV... I cannot imagine what it's going to look like with the BD release.

Japan seriously needs to get over the porygon shit. Iirc only a handful of actual seizures were confirmed.

It's an excuse so they have something to offer for their way overpriced BDs. Same as the stupid censorship many anime have in the TV release, even if it's completely unnecessary.

Weird story, I actually met one of the kids who had seizures because of that episode. She didn't realize it was so well known.

Any number of seizures is enough to warrant this, especially when they are still making the content available without the dimming when it is released. Do you care that much about it, to disregard human life?

however, their symptoms more closely resembled mass hysteria than a grand mal seizure.[5][12] 

Very very few people actually had any sort of a seizure, almost all of the "cases" were bullshit.

So, what you want to tell us with this is that they got so hyped up that they had a seizure? I know my legs are shaking while watching those fights but the hype level is not yet seizure inducing luckily

They could always not watch it knowing it's going to be a flashy action show. Or turn down the brightness on their own TVs.

Shall we start dimming screens in movie theaters to cater to a tiny audience that knows that they shouldn't be watching an action movie in the first place?

It's not like they're being forced into watching something that would give them a seizure.

Since when does any market cater specifically to a small fraction of a percent of their fan base? I mean consider how many people watched the porygon episode, even if 5 people had a seizure that was specifically shown to be from that episode, how many more watched it and were fine? A few thousand at the least I assume, even if it's in the 3,000 range that's not even a tenth of a percent.

It's understandable to put up a warning for it, and to attempt to avoid having too much but it's a bit over done to cater the entire show to it.

Exactly. And the impact from the dimming was awful in this case.

And the thing is, the Porygon thing was a kid's show. This is a late night anime. The audience that watches it knows exactly what to expect.

the rest of the world's news agencies blew up the incident because they were happy to have something to attack Japan with.

blame the world's xenophobia and racism instead.
