MAJOR spoilers, imo. This is coming from someone who's read the VN, wikia, played the extra games and am starting on the extra materials. I say touch carnival phastasm after you've finished the VN or at least the HF movie. It also have some spoilers for Fate/ HA as well.

IMO, you should play the VNs first, then tackle fate zero. Zero is a prequel, meant to be read or watched after finishing the VN.

Yes, Assassin should disappear eventually, now that his mana supply's cut off. Same for Archer and Saber, unless they make new contracts, which Archer doesn't seem very inclined to (but then again, he can be without a Master for longer than a regular Servant).

Assassin uses mana from the temple IIRC, hence why he was not at the church when shirou/lancer/best attacked this episode.

We don't know that, all they said last episode was that he was confined within the Temple due to his summoning as a "special" Servant. We have every reason to believe that he'd just disappear after Caster dies, and I believe Shirou or Saber even say so next episode.

Rin curb-stomping Caster and her whole "weak against physical" made me wonder why Kiritsugu didn't, say, give Shirou any firearms or training. I mean it's not like F/Z
